334 Camillus / Buck Trapper

I took the 334 skinner blade to my India stone for a little back honing and this tuned it up fast. It now slices paper and my apple much nicer. DM

Thanks, Ged. Agreed. Do you utilize the lanyard hole? I have thought about it and if in a canoe or boat on the water, I would attach a long lanyard to it.
Which would allow me to still pull the knife out and use it and no matter if I dropped it. It would still be attached to me. Otherwise, that baby's
going to the bottom. DM

I have not put a lanyard on mine. I have not taken it in the canoe either. I do have lanyards on my fishing implements that I take into the canoe for fishing.

I would certainly put one on mine if I took it out in the canoe!

This morning I procured the 334 Trapper with brown jigged bone handles. When it arrives I'll post a photo of this family of Trappers. DM

Nice pick up. I am a big fan of this pattern. Those Camillus made trappers are built to last and snap shut like a Bear trap.

Haa, yes they do. I don't know why it took me years to move on purchasing one. As I had liked the pattern for several years. Now, I enjoy using one. This jigged bone model will be for display and likely never cut up my apple but I'll still enjoy this historical Buck stamped knife. DM

Here are the Trappers, offered in the 3 configurations: top is the black delrin handled, next the jigged bone and then the parts knife. There are small differences with each. DM

The top model is stamped with serial # 604, the jigged bone model is serial # 234 and the parts model has no serial #.
Interesting, all have Buck on the drop point blade but only the top model has USA on that blades back. Also, the jigged bone was offered with a satin lined clam box. DM

David you made me go and get my jigged boned parts knife. And sure enough no USA stamp just Buck.

Thanks Hawkeye and gsea.
I just looked back at Larry O.'s consignment lists, the last 2 lists and each time a 334 Trapper is listed with jigged bone handles
he notes that USA is not on the reverse side of the blade as the black kraton models have.?? I also went back to post 18 in this
thread to look at Steelheadbully's 334 jigged bone Trapper. Sure enough, no USA on the reverse side of the blade.
Does anyone have a 334 jigged bone Trapper with USA on the reverse side of the dropped point blade?

This beckons the question, which came first the USA stamped model or the Buck only model? DM

@300Bucks , does your clam box, jigged bone Trapper have USA stamped on the drop point blade? I suspect the clam box
was a limited offer package. DM

Thank you Gedd. This knife is not of a modern style but it is classy and holds a mystery. So, I'm trying to find out about it. DM
