#35 Beer and Sausage Bar Tool Knife

I wasn't overjoyed when I realized the Jigged Bone Version was dropping last but I'm sure it will end up well worth the wait. ✌
This is typical GEC order for non SFO, micarta, wood and finally bone. The bone is already looking great and I think it will be the best of the bunch but I'm sure a few will disagree and say ebony will be. Personally I like how the micarta has turned out and cant wait to put one in the bar.

I feel like with the Beer and Sausage, you really need to get two so you can emulate the hobo knives with your fork in one hand and the knife in the other. Plus bonus is you get two beard combs so you are operating at top speed in your beard cleaning efforts.

...or you could just buy nice a Case Hobo Knife, a comb from the drug store for a buck or two, ten pounds of Kielbasa, Bratwurst, and Calabrese from the butcher, and a keg of your local micro-beer .... you'd probably still come out spending less and have a much better time.

Same can be said for any GEC, cheap Chinese user and 3 bottles of Makers

LOL, OMG. I have been drinking beer for a long time, eating sausage for even longer, and have not owned a comb in 30 years. I have not had the "need" for a pocket knife since I bought my first GEC. Therefore, all of you that pointing out all the short comings of this knife, BRAVO! You are right, you own the internet today heck you own the internet all week.

BTW, I don't care. I don't need this knife. I want this knife. That's all, just want it.

I don't have a "beer scout " just a crown lifter. Would I buy a "beer scout" if they made them again? Yes I would, but I certainly will not pay a dime over retail, because it too is not needed just wanted and not wanted that badly.

Ok, off my chest, you go back to telling how great of a knife collector you are, I will be waiting for my jigged bone b&s knife to be made.

Agreed.... the frenzy over the beer scouts has "dimmed" my desire for one. I certainly wouldn't pay the confiscatory prices they go for "out there".
I would like to have a B&S knife, because of the uniqueness of it. I don't think it will fill any glaring holes in my collection, but it's different, and has a cool shield.

And, in about 4 or 5 years, I can sell it for 3-4 times what I paid for it... that's RETIREMENT income, right there....

I just looked back at my sale from 2017 and I sold my charred oak barrel beer scout for $110. To think I could have been retired by now

OK, now you can pound your chest some more and tell us about your secret contact with all the latest info ad nauseum...the hype for this knife is ridiculous, much like the current hype on owning a Beer Scout...the prices people are willing to pay for a BSK currently is just asinine but so is all this lust for a novelty knife...face it you all (and yes, I'll get some hate responses here) but you are buying form over function and for the fact that GEC put a name on it with the word "BEER" in an identical font as the vaunted Beer Scout. The B&SK will in all likelihood be worth a lot of money in future because they all got gobbled up so quickly but that doesn't change the fact that if any other manufacturer made this knife you would be saying "WTF" and be astounded that people were paying good money for one. Please buy them, enjoy them, and I want GEC to make lots of money off them but please don't try and stop me from stating that the B&SK looks like a turd to me.

But it is a well polished turd! ;) L...O...L
the things that they could have built on this frame... sad.

Bill Howard is an entrepreneur, he markets stuff and folks will either buy it or not. It really doesn't matter if "he" likes it, it matters whether his customers like it, and apparently, a lot of them do, so a win for him and his employees. Hopefully this one off diversion is a fun experiment for him and his company, I don't think I am the only one scratching my head wondering...why...? If this was an offering by Case, Boker, Buck, insert other MFG's...it would be a laughing stock. Just shaking my head at the absurdity of the fawning over anything new GEC...

Anyone have any guesses at what prices for these might fetch in 4-5 years on secondary markets? I want my ebony model to be a user but if its going to go for $500 down the road i may have to keep it hidden from myself...

Yesterday a 80 year old Frenchman blew up his house chasing a fly with an electric flyswatter. If he was using a B&SK there would have been less damage!

It will be about like what 77 Barlows go for, maybe a little less due to numbers. But there may be an inflation in price at the time they hit the market due to demand.

A traditional knife made with niche function, and largely useless otherwise, has a fairly good record as far as I can tell. The "Cockfighter" made by Queen had a heel ripper and spur saw - which I don't think look to be functional for the intended purposes anyway; have since gotten very expensive on the secondary market. We don't all have the same taste. And we sure don't all get to decide what everyone else wants to buy.

The conversation, well after the production, about why / how Beer Scouts are so crazy on the market right now is a bit fruitless. What I need is someone to tell me before production what will be the crazy patterns in a few years. Telling me in hindsight and questioning the reasons is about as helpful to me as telling me what patterns they SHOULD have made because it would have been so popular. If I was interested in speculation about things not done or hindsight thought revisionism - I'd watch the politicians all day ;)
