  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

$350, What would You Buy?

11 Kershaw Cryos, Buck 110s, and Spyderco Tenaciouses.

In all seriousness, I'd get myself a ZT0801 and Spyderco P'Kal since those are what I'm looking at right now.

Anyone messed with many of the OTF Microtechs? I've never even handled an OTF knife but they intrigue me. I wish the D.O.C. wasn't S30V. Not my favorite steel.

I have always been intrigued by OTFs but cant have one since they are illegal here but they the only Microtechs Im interested in. I keep hearing how great they do OTFs.

the kryptek mandrake emerson commander in the exchange right now for $250(not mine, but damn what a knife! love my commander!) and then a pete gray monster ti thumbdisc and have some money left over to add to my christmas spending for wife and daughter. but i'm an emerson freak so....

Well since I have a BNIB small Insingo en route Im gonna go with that :D really wanted to try out the blade shape and it looks sweet

The biggest factors are what your desired specs are. Do you want something large or small? Fixed or folder? Regular production, midtech, or custom? What blade steel and handle material? What lock? What opening method?

Without any criteria to fill (apologies for rude wording, but I want to make it a little funny) you may as well have said "Me want knife, have money".

Even if you aren't sure on the super specifics like opener, lock, materials, and price you can at least give us an idea on size and style.

As for what you asked, I would say not to bother with a MT unless you can handle it first. They carry a reputation of having hit or miss Qc and I have not heard a whole lot of good about their CS. If you aren't dead set on something like a Sebenza you would do just fine to stick to the big 3 and just look for the right production model for you. We can help with that :D

I asked what you would buy. I didn't ask you to help me pick something out. Thanks for all of that info tho...

Here is what I bought: ZT 0560CBCF. Its got carbon fiber, titanium, S110v cutting edge, bearing pivot, flipper, four way deep clip, made in the USA, and I was able to purchase it from Dave kershawguy for $340. $10 left in my pocket, jackpot!

Spyderco southard and three DMT plates. Or a Gayle Bradley, a caly 3.5, and a case of Stella... Russ

Get a used SnG - These are tough as nails, no non-sense knives that just work. HT on these are fantastic too.

Sprint run Spydercos and BM are nice too. Microtechs are hard to beat as well.

Lots of choices.

Good luck!

Have you held one? Totally smaller in hand than they seem.

Me, i'd add another $200 and try and score a mammoth bark 'benza.

I haven't held a Spyderco Southard. But flippers in general I dislike. Esp since I remove the clips and carry the knife in my pocket. The flipper is just a hindrance for me.
