36 grit +full speed=

YEE-OW-I'll bet you invented a whole new set of swear words for that-don't forget to soak it in lemon juice and wash it in pond water:D -heal up soon, bro, and yeah Neosporin the hell out of it,and next time try a hollow grind on those knuckles:eek:

happened so fast that it was more "i hope the glove saved me " looked down and said dam it and went inthe house to clean up

you 3 HP 3500 guys are nutz

Word Butch. I was just having random thoughts of my knuckles if my wood push stick broke while leaning ito it on my disc sander. Heal up fast! Hey, I am still looking to buy some of that brown and yellow mycarta you made a few weeks ago!!

I must compliment you on a fine looking manicure. The heavy duty abrasions

Kind of detract from the overall look. Ouch! Heal quick, Fred

Looks great Butch!

At least it wasn't a jointer... My friend did that. It was definitely picture worthy.

Hopefully it heals nicely.

Alex

i was looking at the new press box i just got parts for the other day still have to do alittle cutting andwelding /drilling and taping but i think i can keep claen doin it

Dang, Butch...I just got some 36's in from Pop's...now I'm a little afraid of them. But I've found with my projects that they don't go well unless I spill some blood. Guess it's an offering to the knife god's! Good luck on healing fast and keep 'em clean!

.....I can just hear that blank singing The Seeds (60's garage band) #1 song......

Gee...here I was hoping one of you other fossils would remember the music of your youth and help me out with The Seeds 1966 garage band classic....

"(You're) Pushin Too Hard"

Heal well, Butch!

When one of my buddies was a bit younger, he accidentally pushed his finger into a lathe that had a 1/4/20 tap chucked into it. He was able to hit the brake before it got all the way through his hand. You can hardly tell now though.

now im glad i didnt look that up and feel old like you guys hahahh:D

:D :D I liked that!

I'm a little worried now that maybe I've embarassed a couple of these old guys 'cuz they can't even remember back that far anymore. ;) IG comes to mind. :D

Butch, something the docs told me when I got my hips replaced was to rub Vitamin E lotion into the scar as it starts to form and it will keep it a little softer and not draw up. "Grinds" tend to heal up pretty good, though, regardless of how they look initially.

Hmmm. I'm only 36 but I can barely remember what happened yesterday. I guess it's not the years, it's the mileage. As always, I blame it on the rock'n'roll!

Wish u fast healing. Nothing teaches one respect for grinding
like a chunk o'flesh ground off with 36 grit :)

Hurts like dickens and takes forever to heal

My rules:

- stay alert
- don't push it, let it take 15 extra seconds
- use sharp belts
- have First Aid kit nearby, where you can reach it easily

well had a doc look at it to day just to make sure and its looking fine for what i did to it just got to give it some time and keep it clean

Well, Butch I'm sorry to see that. And you've helped me out before. Now, however, as I'm re-doing my shop for forging, maybe a bit of advice?

Would you suggest not using 36? Maybe hog it on a rough bench wheel would be safer? Speed advice/ maybe a jig to keep your hands away?

Would like to learn from this one...........

The lesson to learn here isn't "be afraid of 36 grit belts", it's more "take your time and be careful". As long as you're aware that it only takes a second for an injury to occur, and maintain your awareness you'll be fine. If your mind starts to wander, if you begin to get tired, etc just stop. Not that that's exactly what happened to Butch here, but it's good advice anyways.

I'd much rather use a 36 grit belt than a grinding wheel any day. Not only can I get more done with a 36 grit 2x72, but I don't have to worry about it chipping or fracturing if I push a little too hard.

Just my $.02,

-d
