3MIL, One Handed Firestarting...in the rain...using a nanostriker...

I love your threads! great pics and and I useually pic up a little something along the way

Thanks man, glad you enjoy the threads!

The whole point of the forum is to share information, thoughts, and ideas....I just get into my camera :)

Cool . I really like thoses firestaters.

Thanks Caine. I do too, plus I developed a whole new respect for the 3MIL too.

I really like the titanium version of the nano too, I like the extra weight.

I learned two things...the 3MIL is definitely serviceable, and to make sure I grab my gear before I go wandering. It's nice knowing I can do it with the 3MIL...if I were really injured I'd really want to get that over with a little quicker.

That is the best part about forgetting - you learn if you can or can't do without that item. Sure, it may be easier with it, but it can be done without it.

very informative! i wish i can stumble upon fatwood like that. i always keep my eyes open but can never seem to find 'em. i resorted to ordering 10 lbs online.

I see there out of stock though

Really?! Holy crap, he had a bunch left on the table Sunday...but I did over-hear some conversations involving quantities. Maybe he sold out...this could be cool, maybe he'll add a couple more colors this time. Lisa has been saying she wants a blue one lol.

Well...I had been saying I needed to see what all I could do with this knife. I guess inside I knew the only way I'd ever really find out was to spend a good bit of time with it as my only available knife.

Yeah, here I walk by it, step on it, trip over it, spot it in the distance....etc., a dozen times or more on any given hike. That's why I use it so much, it works really well under wet conditions...which we have a lot of here (I could have done the same thread every day for the last week and a half or two weeks), and it's just laying around every where...I figure why not.

Nice thread. I have a Nanostriker since a last thursday. Its a nice tool but i still have to practice with it more. Its a tad bit more difficult than my LMF. The striker is pretty small...

Yes...it is a bit more difficult using the supplied striker. It takes a bit to get the hang of it but once you do it works well. The supplied lanyard does play a vital role...it's not just for looks :)

I'll try attaching a lanyard. On more than a few ocasions i dropped the striker.....

I just looked, Rob has them all back in stock now except for the titanium ones.

There is a lanyard supplied with it in the bottom of the box under the padding along with spare o-rings. The lanyard is hard to get through the hole but you'll appreciate that extra friction later.

That's a neat little firesteel, if it was discussed before I must have missed it. Could you link me to some info?

As always, another great thread from Mistwalker.

I'll have to try out some one-handed firestarting when I go camping over 4th of July weekend. Looks like it could come in handy.

Thanks for taking the time to post!

Kyle.
