3rd Annual Northwest Rat Mischief

Skunk,
I will be driving right past the Troutdale Airport Saturday Morning. I have room for a couple more or if you wanted to rent a car I could give you a lift up to the site from the EOC.

thanks, i don't think i can make this one but i would like to make the next. sounds like fun. i would probably fly into troutdale and hitch a ride or rent a halftrack.:cool:

Skunk, I live right near the airport in Troutdale and am going out there so if you were to drop in I could shuttle you out and back :D

... i don't think i can make this one... :thumbup::cool:

Skunk,

That's quite the defeatest attitude you've got going there...
(Just kidding, of course!)
Does this mean you won't be making it to the Walking Man Brewery tonight either  ?!!
(Still kidding here...)

See you next year!!
(No kidding!!)

My whole weekend is in flux. My plans keep changing so I have no idea if I am going to make it.

John, its not so much attitude as the car has to get me back and forth to work each day (50 miles) and I don't want to break it.

Ron, thanks for the offer. Pretty much playing by ear right now. Do you have radio capabilities?

I won't be at the pub tonight. I have a prior family commitment.

James--I am sure you could hitch a ride from one of us in Stevenson if you were already there for the parade.

Skunk--As Dunner mentioned, if you could make it to the Troutdale airport, Mike or myself could pick you up very easily. It's not too late--you still have 17 hours to get there!

James,
I will have my FRS radio on channel 4 per River 8. See you in the EOC parking lot noonish.

And here I sit... Home from the Wildlanf Fire.. (It was out Eastern WA by the Hanford Nuclear Waste SIte) Not enough time to go to Stevenson, too much time to think about all the fun I'm missing...

Hope All is going well Guys!

I could not stay the night and just got back from the Rat Mischief. I think we had 12 people there and got 72 knives on the logs in the dark in the RAIN. 8 of those there are SAR people and spent the day rescueing a fisherman who fell and broke a bunch of ribs and could not walk out. The SAR guys got there about 6-7 pm. We took lots of pictures and a great time was being had by all. It was great to meet some great guys. On Friday night Paddling Man showed up at the local brewery. We had a great time looking at Dunner's and Troy's knives. I am sure others will soon post pictures. Mine are ok but not great. I think this could be the start of a great tradition. Watching Troy (360jules) baton an AK through log after log with the look of shear pleasure on his face was inspiring. I am sure they are going to have great fun tomorrow.

Ok, so all the grandios(?) plans kinda fell apart with the rescue...
But it weren't all horrible - 'cept some logs got stuck:

Maybe more later...

Here is my crummy pictures of the three logs. It was raining pretty good by then. As I posted elsewhere, I counted 72, majority Busse.

It was nice to meet the new folks and nice to visit with everyone.

Getting there 7 hours late kind of took a chunk out of the day though:D

Great time

I had a great time, and I look forward to next year. Got a whole new respect for those SAR guys.

Next time I go out on a call out, I'll be a bit more prepared, and maybe even have some actual training. Oh, and I'll bring plenty of hydroliquidgen. :D

The "Observer"

Observer NOT! Maghwi was a crucial part of the haul out and we were lucky to have you there . Thanks again and it was great meeting you :)

Observer NOT!

Hear Hear; The pack-out was a serious "all hands" effort - your help was deeply appreciated Maghwi!!

First the patient was 'packaged' for transport:

Then we had to drag him uphill:

And then brake as we went downhill:

Now; about next year's Rat, Hog & Dog Mischief... :D ?!!

Long shot if anyone will ever check this, but are these meet ups still going on every once in a while?

LOL, saw this thread, and thought "third annual, that can't be right"

Then noticed it was a necrothread.
