Hey, Mike,

Thank you.

You know, I spent most of my adult life living in Santa Cruz/Felton/Boulder Creek/etc. The Santa Cruz mountains and the Santa Cruz area is a favorite, too.

I'm still not too far from you. We should get together, sometime.

we're in FELTON, just about right across the street from Henry Cowell state park..

drop me a line sometime...

Been to a lot of great places, and some really beautiful ones. The mountains are amazing, but as for my favorite place, it's got to be the Sandhills of Nebraska.

Congrats on the soaring post count, and thanks for the contest!

My favourite place in the world is Wells Gray Provincial Park, in British Columbia. Specifically Murtle Lake. The lake is huge, and it offers amazing opportunities for canoeing (no motor boats allowed!), camping, hiking, and fishing. And it's only accessible by a moderately-difficult portage followed by some serious paddling - which keeps out the lightweights and ensures that lake is relatively empty at most times.

Here's a shot of my canoe up on the shore at sunset, after a day on the water.

Here's a shot from one of the trails.

And here's a knife shot from Murtle, my BK-9

Just thought you would like the pics.

It would be hard to pin down my absolute favorite place I have been, but this came to mind first, and it definitely would rank in the top five. Big Wet Meadow, Cloud Canyon, Kings Canyon NP

Hey Lambertiana,

That pic reminds me of the marsh / meadow at the north tip of Murtle Lake, in British Columbia. The mountains are a bit different, but the general shape is pretty similar!

Thanks for the contest - some really nice pics everyone's been posting!

Wow - 4,000!! Getting long in the tooth there! It'll probably be couple years before I even get to 2,000! :D

Ok, here's my entry - Honeymoon Lake, Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada:

That's a great pic bro, I'd love to know what was going through your partners mind !

well, i can tell you what was going through my mind looking at the light hit those mountain ridges, as cliche as it may be, i just kept thinking that god really was an artist. and a really good one.

it's actually a funny thought for me since i'm not particularly religious. the most powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing being in existence - and all he wants to do is make pretty things.

sounds good to me!

What a super thread. :) Wonderful pictures from everyone. These are always such great fun! A win, win for everybody.

Thanks for the contest opportunity.

Here are a few from Alaska..

.. And a few pictures from where I live right on the edge of the J. W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area, North Palm Beach, Florida. I always have a blast teaching my children Wilderness techniques and just generally enjoy them enjoying nature. In this case scavenging edibles that are readily available in the environment. Then preparing the fire pit and gathering wood to start up the suppertime meal as well as provide heat for the evening..

Macgregor, where are those pictures from? Looks a bit familiar. Montanna maybe?

Colorado.
It was a mikey mouse climb, we drove up. :D
Although I managed to get pretty far off the road after parking, hiking in my t-shirt a tennis shoes.
There are some really beutifful things that most people that visit will never see because they just drive through.

I need to hit more mountains, Montanna sounds nice.

Colorado, not bad. Some of the alpine pictures looked a lot like some stuff I saw in the Beartooths this summer. Here's a picture from the Beartooth Plateau. If you ever get the chance to spend some time in the Beartooths DO IT.

And for the faint of heart, I took this picture about twenty feet off Highway 212.
