4.5 Buschraft Preorder Cutoff date???

The 4.5 is indeed a saber grind! Sorry to add confusion.

Your post didn't confuse me, no worries! I had seen a comment from Guy on the Fire & Steel YouTube Channel regarding a Scandi grind bushcraft knife. Fancier just restated that the Scandi grind plans have been scrapped plus the design photos on The Survive! website clearly show a Saber grind. So that is that for now.

Guy scrapped his scandi grind project, I don't think I ever heard exactly why.
I have a folder with a scandi grind and at 1/8" the blade thickness is borderline excessive.
I'm glad that the Survive bushcrafter is going to be ground thinner.

The edge wasn't holding up as expected so they've just been in the shop waiting for inspiration to strike. Which happened not long ago so they may still be resurrected (GSO-4.1 Frankenstein?). Details to come in a few months, once we have more information.

Resurrected? Frankenstein? Both terms from my thread! Did Guy get inspired to do some hand ground convex blades?????

Getting a very itchy trigger finger on this model. Who has one of these on preorder already, or is this one of those red headed step children?

On a separate note, although I would never have any use for a bow-drill divot and as previously discussed by many, a ferro notch may not be the most desirable of options, I may want to select that option because after all this knife is being marketed as a bushcraft knife model. I am not too fussed about heavy duty batoning and the idea of that notch "possibly" compromising the steel's structural integrity because:

A- the steel is still CMP-3V

&

B- with a thinner slicer knife, the idea is more to whittle and create rather than chop and baton. That said, some people do all the above plus some with $20 Mora knives :D

I have one on preorder. I was hoping to have it for hunting season but I don't think it'll be even remotely close to being completed.

Hey Ellie and Guy can we get some pictures of the 4.5 ??? Please ??? Maybe even next to the 4.7 and 5.1 for comparison .
Thank you

Thanks Hunter, your support is now encouraging me to part with more of my $$$s :D

I'll preorder one as soon as I get my Factory 2nd 4.7 and sell off one of my 5.1s on here.

I am planning on having two GSOs on hand at any given time and 2 on order. It's a frigging addiction, I tell Y'all!

Still waiting on bushcrafter prototype pics , wondering how different it will be compared to my last years 4.1 , I think a pic would push me into the pre order 😀 !!!

Ohh, yes, please! Prototype pictures of the BC. That would put me over the edge, too, probably!

I've been eyeballin' this one and sort of going back and forth on it. Yesterday, I was out hiking and stopped to eat me some apricots and appreciate the way the sunlight filtered through the leaves on to the trail. I pulled out my 5.1 and started carving on a stick I found, and it hit me: I'm going to need a 4.5! The 5.1 is nice and can certainly manage just about anything, but I think the thinner, slice-ier blade on the 4.5 will be like the difference between single malt and well scotch. I think the 4.5 will be a pleasure to use...

Are these going to offered in the 20CV ? If so can I pre order it , only option is the 3V .

I think the 3V may be the only option since they will probably be offering it in the Delta 3V version (I think, so don't quote me!) which reportedly is better against corrosion!

The original word was that Guy was cautious about issuing such a thin knife and he chose only 3V as the more abuse resistant steel.

I need to get my order in. Can we order another pair of scales with it. I just can't decide.

This is a good question. I keep watching for supplies to get listed for the 4.7. I'm so indecisive with handle color!

I have some ideas in mind, but at this point I think I'll wait a little longer.

just go with camo g10 and dark earth sheath, its what i did. and now that you mention it, why arent these shipping out by now? i know ordering hasnt closed and all but i paid for mine ages ago and i didnt sign up for waiting despite specifically knowing i would have to wait. this is just ludicris, maybe they should hire more people and stop breaking their machines. also, i want a hat.
