4 day Wilderness Trek (lots of pics)

That was spectacular HD. Almost felt like I was there. You have a lot of patience for you buddy - that must make you a truly virtuous man! Personally it never bothers me that much to stop early, but I hate it when your mates laze around the whole morning. I prefer to get to the next site and then laze around. That way you aren't flittering about in the dark looking for the next spot to set the night.

Just stunning pictures. I think I enjoyed the story telling even more though. Also thanks for sharing the '04 pics. Seems like quite the adventure.

Awesome trip! The one thing I miss about the east is hiking in the fall, that was my favorite time to be out.

Excellent pics and a great write up of what looks like a thoroughly enjoyable trip!

HD, looks like you had a great time, photos are great. Any equipment breakdowns or issues, how many knives did you pack, which one did you use the most?

Nope. I brought the White Box and the other alcohol stove I got from you.

Both worked great. I found at the lower temps I needed about 3 oz to get 2 quarts boiling.

Found your stove bloomed out quicker and got hotter quicker but used a touch more fuel than the white box.

This was my first time using the Mountainsmith Achilles pack and a lot of times after a distance packs cause my shoulders to hurt. This pack may have been the best on my shoulders of any I have ever used:thumbup: Wondering if it is because it is sort of narrow with no side pockets and I had all the stuff in it nothing hanging off of it.

The only blades I took were my Skookum and the Nessmuk hatchet. They did fine like usual.

The new Golite Hex 3 is easy to pitch and put up in the morning. The Big Agnes trail pad guarantees great sleep.

Dangling / hanging gear is tiring. Big pockets on the sides don't allow enough free room to swing your arms fully when using trekking poles (not to mention scrambling or climbing boulders). A good designed hipbelt (supportive doesn't always mean heavily padded) takes a great load off your shoulders. So yes, it might be the pack design what you just fell in love with :D
