4 to 5" camp/woods/bush knife recommendation.

There are great Old Hickory modifications, good prices too, I forget his name but he modifies them nicely. He goes by digitalredbeard on the other forum, JKL knives or his site http://longmireknives.blogspot.com. He has some nice videos on YouTube. You really should check out the customs on the exchange, I have liked DP knives and Shaerk knives. There is a Shaerk there now going for 100.00 under the production fixed blade section, under the title "Mostly fixed blades...". Good luck and let us know what you decide on and why you like it.

In that size range, I'd go with a ESEE Laser Strike, TOPS Pathfinder School or Ratmandu.
Also take a look at Ontarios RBS4, designed by Justin Gingrich and the DPX HEFT 4 fixed blade

Lots of good recommendations here. I'd add Helle: they're tough, light, and generally come with excellent sheaths. And Buck: its 420HC gets a bad rep by some folks, but I field dressed a moose one time with my 119 and it did just fine start to finish. Yes, it needed a touch-up half-way through after cutting through that gritty hide and severing the big joints, but then so have any other blades in 'better' steels that I've put to the same task.

I really like the Bark River Gunny. It has a 3.77 inch blade. It is my favorite and most used knife. Another good choice is the BR Canadian Special.

Field dressing a moose is when a knife really proves its worth for me-really makes you appreciate a good blade
