440 Question

I think that is a bit of a stretch. What are you seeing to reach that conclusion?

The groove changed a lot in 2005. They used a new procedure and new tooling in Idaho.

If you compare pre-2005 with post-2005 there's a difference that's easily seen.

If these blades are 440C they'd either have to be old blades or Buck has gone back to the pre-2005 equipment and procedure........and that does not seem at all likely, does it?

OK, well I'm off to the basement to look at a bunch of 119's. I am from the Show-Me-State afterall. They did a run of 440c 119's for the 75th set. Personally I'm thinking Makael's blades are more likely from that batch. To me they do not look anything like early blades.

Could be

Spin on pommel and barrel nut i think were the differences

Going to the basement and seeing them in person is probably more satisfying, but you could just Google the Buck 119 and click on images to see a lot of blades old and new.

The difference it the new Fuller groove and the old is quite clear and dramatic.

The shape is far different.

Well, there was an old thread about the fuller change I had almost forgotten about. I had even posted on it.
So you may be correct about a change in the fuller in 2005 but still do not believe those are old blades.

Well, then we still have the same question going.......if they are not old blades how is it that they have the old Fuller (groove)?

Did Buck recently start replicating the old Fuller?

Wouldn't that take some new tooling?

Maybe Mr. Hubbard can help us find the answer?

Isn't saying "Fuller groove" sort of like saying "groove groove"?

No.

It's like saying, "Fuller Fuller."

:D

You forget that there are always new people who might not be as expert in the jargon as you are.......so if you add "groove" it makes it easier on them.

I'm all about helping the new knife knuts.

Imagine that... another hijack...

I don't have one of the 440c 119s from the 75th anniversary with a fuller blood groove, but I do have a 110 from the 50th anniversary made with 440c. Anyone know if this is leftover from the 80s or newly made for the 50th?

Well, then we still have the same question going......they are not old blades, but they have the old style Fuller (groove)?

Did Buck recently start replicating the old Fuller?

Wouldn't that take some new and different tooling?

Maybe Joe can explain that mystery?
