440A performance...

I certainly bought my share of 440A, AUS6, and "surgical stainless" knives prior to discovering BladeForums. I have subsequently gotten rid of most of them.

If you look at the number of people usually signed in on this forum, and keep in mind that the membership includes folks from numerous countries, you will realize just how few people there are among us that know anything at all about knife steels.

Okay, now I understand.

Those are NOT the next generation of the Native.
Actually those are old models and were NOT made by Spyderco.

As I understand the situation, Spyderco allowed "Blue Ridge Knives" (hence the BRK designation) to use the Native design, and BRK's chose 440A for the blade-steel.
Spyderco itself has never made the Native in 440A.

If you ever see a BRK Native, do yourself a favor and don't buy one.

Good luck,
Allen.

Wouldn't EDC it, but it was a good "don't want to use my edc for this" knife for $20.
