4th of july at hanging rock

Sweet fixed blade. Can I ask who makes it?

Very nice photos, too! I wish that we had places like that here in So FLA.

Its a JK knves hikers backup. He goes by stomper here on the forums. Great knives, and very affordable. He can make you one in around 2 weeks, and has lots of options to choose from.

That is a seriously cool find on the arrowhead. You're son looks like a real fun little character! Have a great holiday weekend!

Terrific photos. The arrow head is beautiful. Having stumbled on some incredible artifacts in my time I've come to believe that you don't find them, they find you.

That is a really sweet lockblade.

I became obsessed and had to find one! I did - it will be shipping this week!

That looks like a cool trip. This time next year I will be taking my boy out like that - he should be ready for something like that next year. They grow up quickly. I just don't think he's quite that ready yet but we go outside a lot and he always wants to be outside. My son likes daddy's knives and knows the handles, sheaths, and blades (Ouchy - don't touch!)

Thanks for sharing! ...and helping me spend money....:D

Dude, you will love your knife. These queens are very nice, sturdy well made knives. Did you get the D2 one? Im not much for mirror polish, and the blade logo, but some wd40, and 1000 grit took care of that!

My youngest is 4. hes went on 3mi hikes with me w/o a complaint, but no overnighters yet. That is soon to change though. I am ordering him one of those plastic SAK bambinos, and when it arrives, I am gonna give it to him on our first overnighter.... I have 3 SAK farmers w/ im having all their initials engraved on for christmas presents for this year. I think they will flip. My 10 yr old has a bunch of knives, but no "good" ones yet. He will be getting a kephart from stomper this christmas too.

I found that exact one in D2.

My son is 3 1/2 and I just found a local 288+ acre county park that we are going to start in. We may just start with 1/2 mile in and back out and see how he does. I've got to get some kid-safe insect/bug repellant for him and something more boot-wise.

I've got the Bambino SAK on the way too! He loves counting my SAKs and naming the colors on them. I think I've got a compatriot to work with! My wife is interested as well.

I'm looking for "Hiking 101" info...haha. I want to find some plant ID guides and I need to get basic gear worked up for hiking with a toddler - and figuring that I may end up carrying him at some points - hence my caution to not "over do it".

He loves going out on the bike trails so it should end up being a good transition at some point.

This time next year he should be good to go.

Youre going about it the right way man. Im sure he will love it........ I always pack some treats for him when we go out, makes him look forward to the next stop, and makes his time that much more fun.

J - Great pics. I've been eyeballing the mountain man and the cattle king in stag for a couple of years, but never pulled the trigger. Do you anywhere that still has them?

I scored this one off the exchange, I think AG russel does. I know they did. All I can seem to find is birdseye maple. Which is awesome too.

I hate to say it but I just found the Mountain Man exactly as pictured off of e-bay for $79 plus $6 shipped.

I'll have to check the Cattle King.

Knifeworks has the Birdseye Maple Mountain Man in stock:

Looks like Derek has the Amber stag in stock:

I think it is funny how quickly interests in blades can be split: from one moment Busse addiction to RAT Cutlery to custom fixed to classic style folders to SAKs...great hobby!

Cumberlandknife works I believe has them

I would just make sure you talk to someone there first to make sure a discontinued item like that is actually in hand, ready for delivery.

Cumberland does good business though.

Yep, they are OK, I have bought from them before. I found the 1095 in sambar stag on their site, I think I might have to do it..............
