Recommendation? ~5" fixed & pointy

I'm looking for a fixed-blade knife. It should have a blade around 5 inches, give or take, and be pointy. Preferably not tanto. Ideally, there should be hand guards, but if the handle is grippy enough that's fine.
Budget? Let's say, $100 or slightly more.

It can be something like Cold Steel's Mini Tac but bigger and thicker; or like the OSS, but smaller — but I don't know if such knives exist.

What are you trying to use it for by the way?

Ha, that's a very interesting question I wish I had an equally interesting answer! But I don't. It's like my wife asking me, why do you need those knives, what are you going to use them for? I wish I knew! Most of the time, it will be dangling aimlessly by my side when I go to the woods, I have bigger blades as choppers; it will be for occasional small cutting tasks. Basically, this is just... just so. Just to have it!

Did I answer your question? No, I didn't! 😆

P. S. I just hope that the knife I'm looking for exists :D

Compact SRK with orange sheath and handle . Exclusive at one place , $24 on sale .

Just SK-5 steel , but probably good enough for most use .

Got one for the wife's car . So she can find it , if needed in an emergency .

Also , looks more tool than weapon ...hopefully .

Middle in pic :

As a basic cutting tool, just to have it with me knife...with a 5" blade, I'll second the Buck 105.

The top is a Heritage edition in D2, and right at your budget. Middle is the regular version (current steel is 420HC) and a bit under budget.

That said, the obvious answer to What ~5"fixed blade? is SRKW Ratmandu. It's over budget; which simply means your budget is incorrect. Set aside a little extra each paycheck and you'll get there in no time - buy once, cry once.

This one looks like a pretty good candidate for you.

Great knife, but I want something more pointy

I find that a sub 4" blade is best for regular belt carry.
Fair enough! I just love bigger blades :) I sacrifice comfort for esthetics

After spending a total of 30 days on the trail during my 286 mile hike last year. I found that I didn’t like anything on my belt. I did have a Mora Companion in my backpack.
John 😁
Impressive! My hikes are shorter in time and therefore in distance, so I'll be ok if it dangles by my side :)

Definitely look at the CS SRK (6") and SRK-C (5")

SRK(-C) was one of the first things that came to my mind. I was looking elsewhere because I think the SRK is kind of bland. I need something sexier. But if I don't find anything then probably the SRK(-C) (not sure which one) will be my choice.

Buck 119/105 was also on my radar. That's a classic knife. I wish it had a lanyard hole though (not a deal breaker, but still...)

For $100? This fits the bill quite well.

Great, but not pointy enough!

It's my fault: I want a pointy knife but I didn't specify that in the subject line. CHanged the line accordingly.

Cold Steel SRK-C is your ticket then.

I own many of the knives mentioned here. For that price point, Tereva 140 is the way to go. Get the leather sheath for it as well. If I could only have one knife, this might be it. I like the Buck 119 also and own a few versions but this is just more robust
