OK, I have a question, and if it has been asked before, I trust I will be made aware of it.

What, in your opinion, are the 5 "Must haves" any self respecting Traditional knife knut should have? Be as specific as you like--brand, pattern, materials, but lets limit it to production knives right now. Pics are expected, but not required.

I'm hoping this will be an enlightening thread, one that helps my, and maybe your, collection grow.

Folders...
Remington 1123 Bullet
Schrade Old Timer 8OT
Buck 110
Case Sodbuster
Remington Cotton Sampler (ok....this one isn't practical, but it's my favorite pattern so have to stick it in there)....but if I have to give my real 5th pick, it would be a swiss army knife

I think the Buck 110 should be on almost everyone's list. Also a Victorinox of some sort, but I'm not a traditional knife kind of guy so those are my two choices.

A Buck 110.
A Stockman, 1095 or alloy steel. US-made Schrade Old timer, or US-made Camillus.
A Case Peanut, CV blades
A Victorinox, pick one. (I'm partial to the Tinker, but lots of folks like the Farmer.)
A Buck 301 Stockman.

A SAK.
Buck 110
Stockman or Whittler.
A Mora classic type with laminated blade.
a Green River or Old Hickory; belt, sheath, skinner, butcher, boning or paring knife.

A Loveless pattern
A good custom slipjoint
A custom damascus blade
An engraved knife
A Bowie

Buck 110
Victorinox Soldier
Schrade 34 OT
Case peanut (yellow CV)
Opinel (6,7 or 8)

* Any U.S.-made Old Timer.
* A Case trapper or mini trapper.
* An alox-handled Victorinox Soldier.

Camillus TL-29
Case CV Sodbuster
3 blade knife- whittler or stockman, depending on blade combination you like
Barlow knife
Scout knife or SAK

• Case/Bose collaboration knife
• vintage Remington
• a big slipjoint, perferably a stockman, for real work
• a classy little slipjoint, for church, evenings out, etc.
• any pattern custom slipjoint by one of the fine makers on this forum

One medium-size knife that is comfortable in the pocket, something to oil the joints with, and something to sharpen the knife with. I know you were looking for knives, but that's really all you need.

Now to answer the real question:
1. Stockman
2. Barlow
3. Trapper
4. Small gentleman's knife - a penknife or something like that.
5. A medium to large size single blade.

1) Stockman, i Like the buck 301
2) Peanut, Case or other Brand
3) SAK, the SD or whatever
4) Slimline Trapper, Case or Queen
5) Kabar USMC

Not to hijack this thread, but I really need to try one of the buck 300 series knives. They seem to be pretty popular around here.
