5 years, 3000 posts GAW

Thanks for your contributions.

Not really an entry...but I would like to post a budget/bargain knife. Got this Queen Country Cousin Sodbuster for 30 USD some years back. Very nice F&F and a decent D2 blade as well! Bargain I'm convinced.

My favorite traditional budget knife is a mossberg lockback. 30$ i have a couple in my safe thathave been carried alot.

Ifi win i'd like a synthetic handle material of some kind to finish my handforged traditional clip point fixed blade knife blade i forged and ground from 1095.

This is a great idea for a GAW and in the spirit of generosity, I'm keeping my choice low so there's room for more folks to win.

There are a couple knives that I've never pulled the trigger on but still keep planning to that, in many ways, are the same knife.

The Douk Douk

And the Mercator
http://www.baryonyxknife.com/blcatloca.html

If I happen to win, I'll let you choose, since I never could.

Here's my most recent budget knife.
One of my absolute favorite patterns but so few makers still have one like it.

Good luck to everyone, congratulations on the 3000 posts and 5 years of fun and thank you for the generosity.

Just edited my post to add the link, post #9

I'd probably go for a budget axe. Pretty traditional, and relatively cost effective.
42blades (Barryonyx knives had one for 39)
If not allowed to get an axe, same dealer has s 14 inch Old Hickory Butcher knife (would go will with my grandpa's old hickory knives

As far as budget knives go, I’d really have to say my favorite(s) would be the Small Tinker or the 340T, I can’t decide. Both were and are still very inexpensive and you really got a lot of knife for your money. Perhaps enough knife to last most people a lifetime.

Congrats on the milestones and thanks for the GAW.
Budget knife- my first thought was of a recent estate sale find, but that was a budget price, not a budget knife.
I think it's hard to beat the Cold Steel Kudu for low cost cutting and toughness. (I'll use the Okapi if I'm likely to be digging with it.)

I've long been on the point of buying a Case drop point russlock. That is what I would like if I win. Any handle, but the harvest orange looks nice.

Congratulations on your milestones, Tom! :):thumbsup::cool:
Thanks for the generous and interesting GAW, too; I'll be interested to see how many winners there are, depending on the luck of the draw and the knife choices people made. I'd like to enter.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I have lots of Rough Riders with which I'm extremely pleased, and most if not all were purchased at budget prices (usually less than $15 each, many less than half that). But I think my favorite budget knife may be this 1936-1952 Imperial that I got for $5 at a local gun & knife show!

If I'm fortunate enough to be among the winners, I'd like to get this "Memphis Belle" Vic Tinker:

If I were to buy that knife myself, my wife might raise some objections. But if I get it via a GAW, she'll be unlikely to "look a gift horse in the legs" :D:D.

Thanks again, Tom, and best wishes to all the participants!! :p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wow, this very generous of you sir. I too have enjoyed my time on the forum (and Porch). Have learned much, and come to count many as friends we I learn about different individuals, as well as share much about myself.

One of my budget favorites has to go out to my namesake, the Barlow. I have many, mostly RR's, because I can afford them without too much grief from the wife. But give second and third shouts to the simple Peanut, and a few Stockmen. Especially those bladed for carving/whittling. Also, Sowbellys and Carvers Congress come to mind.

If I were to be so fortunate and chosen, one knife that has gotten my attention recently are the Single Blade Barlow's. I only have one right now, last year's forum TC. It is spectacular, but with a one and only blade, would like a more traditional shape than a Sheepsfoot. Obviously another single bladed TC would be amazing. But one I keep running into is this Boker.
