.50 BMG vs BWM - Video & Pic

OK, obviously Jerry knew what it would do, I knew what it would do, pretty sure Tacblade knew what it would do. That doesn't detract from it just being fun.

If its so boring, such a waste, then click on another thread and leave it alone. That a guy spending his money on a company we are all fond of and doing what he wants with his knife being an issue is beyond me. So yeah, I guess I am still confused.

I agree. There's no worse waste of a fine tool like INFI than not using it at all.

Not that the outcome is surprising, but the negativity is lame and unnecessary.

Agreed,,,

You could run it over with a tank as well. Man I can't wait to get a Busse, I think I'll just use mine as a knife. Next time shoot a bowling pin.

For the next test, see if a sharp knife can cut something.

Pointless experiment, but honestly, why is everyone so upset? It's his money, who gives a crap? It's not some rare and priceless gem, it wasn't used in the battle of the Alamo.

For the record, I don't care where you shoot it, the edge, the spine etc.. It's going to get destroyed, API or FMJ. The knife will lose 100%.

Kind of reminds me of that sword in lord of the rings. Now all you need are some midget blacksmiths to make the blade whole again.

So let's kinda change the topic. This knife was basically shattered by the round. Is this typical for a piece of (regular) steel at this range and with this ammunition? Did INFI respond to/resist the round differently because it's INFI? I ask because I don't see anywhere in the fragments in the original picture anything that looks like an impact point or indentation - just pieces.

Mad Props! If people try to **language** on your parade then they have some sort of mental issue they need to deal with.

That was pretty outstanding and I'm sure People will speak of this event for years to come.

I'm not really upset by the loss of the knife, but I am amazed by the prevailing attitude. I wonder why so many folks in this thread applaud idiocy. And why others say nothing about its encroachment into what has traditionally been a pretty level-headed subforum. I used to feel like folks in the Busse forum, despite some of their hijinks and the occasional oddball, had a fair dose of common sense. But when some guy blows up a perfectly good BWM just for the fun of it, and other folks chime in about how cool it was, well then I begin to doubt that assessment. I was raised in a family in which, had I destroyed a perfectly good tool for fun, I would not be sitting comfortably for about a week. Conspicuous wastefulness is never cool. :thumbdn:

Maybe it's just me. I never really got those Jackass videos either.

I couldn't have done it myself. Put it up on the exchange and see what you can get for it now.

Noss destroys many blades. TacBlade destroys one and get's flak?

We are all free to do as we please in the good ole USA! That's the beauty of it. :)

and now for something really cool!

why do not go a brass-lead ball ?

With any kind of ammo, the results would have been the same. INFI is a great knife steel, but it is not armor. I have shot regular A36 carbon steel several times with lead cored hunting ammo designed to mushroom on impact, and it still punches holes in 1/4" plate with no problems(22-250, 223, 30-06, 308, 7mm, 458SOCOM.) Even the slow moving 458SOCOM with 300gr hollowpoints will punch through one side of 8" sch40 pipe (.32" thick) and almost penetrate the back wall of the pipe too, leaving a crack around an indentation. With the hardness of the INFI I am not surprised at all that it failed in a brittle manner.

Very cool video though. What are you gonna do with the pieces? Smaller knives?

That is a good idea for an experiment, and you can still do that with the pieces, TacBlade. Be sure to post the video....

Come to think of it, though, if you only throw the pieces of a broken knife into the ocean would that really prove anything? No, I think you should buy a new one to use for that test.

Yes... at least that way he can send those pieces to a serviceman, and they wont be wasted... Maybe that serviceman can make randucci a folder in his spare time.
