50 Year Birthday knife. What would you get or suggest

All of the custom I could comfortably afford. It will last the rest of your life and make a great heirloom to pass on. It won't be on time but some of the makers will get to you pretty quick. DO IT! You won't be disappointed!
 
I have no idea of price or availability but my suggestion would be a J.Oeser knife . I would ask him to let his creative juices run wild and have no idea what he will produce and deliver until you open the box , just like a true Birthday present .

I also say Northwoods Norfolk in ivory or mammoth. I turn 50 myself in April and thought it would be a good reason to pick up something I always wanted, but my wife wouldn't let me bring her home.

I'm talking about a beagle puppy here. Wouldn't want to give ya the wrong idea.

I'd go for something with an ivory handle seeing as they may be quite difficult to obtain after 2014.

If you are not going to spend a mint, get a Schrade USA 34OT, 8OT or 61OT. USA is key here.
 
Congrats on your fifty! I don't know much about traditionals, just haven't wandered in that direction yet, just have a Kershaw Double Cross and a couple of old random ones. For my fifty I got a ZT 0561, and for my fifty-two this year got a ZT 0600. Enjoy whatever you decide to get!
 
My Birthday is today, my 45th I ordered one of GEC's Improved Trappers in African Blackwood, been wanting one for a while. They are beautiful knives.
 
I'd call up Reese Bose & order a 5 blade Rogers whittler. One blade for each decade you've lived. Life's too short to mess around with anything less than that :)
