BBN,
Sorry, I can't give you any first hand info about the Trident Folders (a little out of my $$ range for right now), however, I do have 3 of the Trident fixed blade knives. The Oberland 01, the Oberlant 03, and the TCFM 02 and everyone of them are built like tanks and I think will stand up against just about anything you could put them to. When I get some more "disposable income" down the road then I will surely get me one of his folders. I like the one with the G-10 handles since I don't care for metal handles. Looks like it's time to sell some more Busse knives and get more Tridents!

Hi Ron , do you think G10 handle wil lbe better then the titanium one in therms of grip ?

if i was spending 500 or so i´d get an elishewitz any day, however i would never pay that much for a knife

I'd say go for a large Micarta inlay classic Sebenza. Great knife and you should be able to get a hold of one with no wait. I can't say that this is an unbiased opinion but I have one and I'm pretty happy with it. I know Sebs aren't everyone's "cup of tea". ;)

BBN,
I am sure that the grip of either the titanium or the G-10 will be just fine. I am just more partial to G-10 and not crazy about metal handles unless they have some kind of soft inserts in the scales. I am sure that if you give Maciej a call that he would even put some inserts in the slabs for you because he really is a custom knife maker and very willing to do what ever it take to make the custome happy. HMMM, maybe I will do the same thing cause I like the one with the titanium handles a little better then the other one.

I told myself I'd pick up a Darrel Ralph Gunhammer ($625-$675) if I make $200k/yr, a Scot Matsuoka Mejiro ($400) or Pahinui ($450) if I make $150k/yr, or a Darrel Ralph Production Maxx Q ($200) if I hit $120k/yr. Alas, all those yearly salaries are a dream, so my priciest knife I got for $50ish (tho, I got a good deal and it normally goes for $60-$70). Damn, hate being poor.

I would get both the Benchmade 910 (or 9100 auto version) Spyker and the Spyderco carbon fiber Military model. With the rest of the money that you will have left you can throw a big party for all your friends and show off your new knives

In a test of large "tactical" folders on the British Blades website the Military won. They didn't test the Benchmade Spyker 910 which was a shame since it would give the Spyderco a run for its money. If someone can find a link to that test maybe they will post it.
