500 post giveaway: "Inclement Weather" - ends 12 / 05

Hi All,

Just giving this thread a gentle bump, as it has migrated to page 4. A few of you have posted pics in other threads that definitely fit the eligibility criteria (hint hint)!

The pics so far have been great. Some of my best camping stories have involved the weather getting a bit rough, and it's great to see that others have had positive (and photogenic) experiences in similar situations.

To keep things rolling, here's a shot from Collingwood, Ontario, last week:

Thank you for the contest. Here is a somewhat similar picture I took from my canoe on the other side of the continent. It's from a trip to Lobster Lake in Maine this fall. It looks worse than it turned out - no deluge, just light rain for most of the weekend.

Righto. Time to call this thing.

After careful consideration (this was a really tough decision!), I've decided to award the prize to BenchmadeBoy, for his awesome Arctic pic. It fits perfectly with the giveaway theme, and the red tint reminds me of the phrase "looking through rose coloured classes" - which is exactly how I like to view a bit of unexpected weather on an outing.

Thanks to all who posted pics. There are some really excellent shots here, and more than a few have found their way into my archive of "nice pictures I wish I had seen first-hand".

This is a shot from our arctic exploration camp in Nunavut. This whiteout lasted 4 days. The funny thing is that it was quite bright, you needed sunglasses all the time in order to see anything. I shot this through the red lens of my snow goggles. Thanks for the contest!

Holy smokes! I just logged on and saw this thread had been bumped! Thank you so much!! After seeing so many other great pictures posted by you guys, I didn't think I had much of a chance. Mentor, thanks so much for the compliments and for the contest. I took that shot on the spur of the moment, as I was ducking into a building. I'll PM you with my info. I've been going through a bit of a rough patch right now. With the mining industry taking such huge hits right now, my job future is uncertain. This was a bit of a boost. My thanks to all on this Forum. Simply a great place to be.:D
