Deebo Says It's Time For A Giveaway!

Hey guys, I'm just a few posts overdue for making this thread so here it is!

Update: I did some thinking and realized it would be smarter to split this in to two parts. The random winner of this giveaway will be announced on Sunday evening and I will be using Random.org to generate the winner.

The winner of my choosing will be announced at the end of the month as originally planned. I realized this made more sense because I've got a tiny bit of extra money and it seems wiser to split the costs of this giveaway in to two parts so as to not just blow a whole chunk of dough at the end of the month all at once.

Yeah. I know, there's a lot of wa's in that title. It's for a reason though. Originally, the format of this give away was explained in another thread. I wanted to take a poll and then end up giving away the most commonly mentioned and requested knife. I figure that was a pretty solid way of making the winners, yes, there will be more than one, pretty happy.

Then another member strolled along and TOTALLY RUINED MY INGENIOUS PLAN by suggesting... that I just leave the choice of knife up to the winner or winners. Yeah, thanks, good sir for going ahead and urinating all over my great plan. :grumpy:

Anyways, so as it stands, here are the rules of the giveaway:

1. I would like at least a short blurb about why you feel that you are in a position where you could or would truly appreciate a new knife. No, saying "Because I'm a knife addict too!", unfortunately, does not cut it.

2. Regular members get one entry in to the giveaway and all other levels of members may place two entries if they so wish.

Now on to how the winners will be chosen:

1. The primary winner has been announced: Number 47 - Revroor!

2. The second winner, who will be announced at the end of the month, will be the person who presents the best case for why they feel they would truly appreciate having this next knife will be given a knife of an, as of yet, undetermined budget. It will be equal to or lesser than the primary winners budget.

The second winner of this contest will be announced at the end of the month, basically so that I can make sure that I'm not doing myself detriment by having this contest to begin with. Also, my girlfriend will be co-judging these responses. :D

Have at it guys and good luck!

I would truly appreciate a new knife because I don't have much chances to get a knife that often (no job) and so far my most expensive knife out of 3 is my Kershaw JYD II that I got for around $40 from this forum. I have never won a giveaway yet so here's hoping that I at least win for the second winner. :D

I really don't have any good reason but I think it's very nice what you're doing
Best,
Gabriel.

well, i KNOW i'd appreciate a new knife as of now....i sold ALOT of my knives for some money to put towards a custom pen for my father for father's day and also recently gifted a couple of ka-bars to a friend of mine who is going into service with the marines next month. so my collection has significantly dwindled down to only my more inexpensve knives (most expensive one left is my $90 leatherman surge and it ain't even a knife) and i have very limited cash to put into knives right now (i'm not going to lie and say i have "no" money) but i am now on the strictest knife buying budget i've ever been on. so gettting another knife to boost the collection a bit would be more than appreciated. thanks for the opportunity!

I need a new manix 2 because I changed the clip position on the one I have to left side carry, I'd like a matched pair to carry left and right. $60 would go a long way to make that matched pair vision come true. If I win I'll pay for shipping since I'm in the Philippines. Thanks for your generosity.

Really kind giveaway and I'd love to participate. I guess the reason I want to win a knife so badly is because I enjoy actually using knives for utility. I don't just want to store something in a cupboard and let it sit for 10 years, I would like a new addition to my pocket, not my safe. From the sound of your description, you will be giving away a knife in the price range of "users".. meaning it's not too precious or pretty to be afraid of using, which is exactly what I am looking for. I honestly have not had any money to spend the past few months, which is why I have not been very active on the boards regarding new releases etc.. I only recently started collecting a few knives in March and fell in love with the hobby. I truly do appreciate the craftsmanship and thought that goes into a nice piece, even if it is a $40 dollar knife.

Im just starting my collection and only have 2 knives so far a Kimura 2 and a SOG seal pup i need a folder in the mix

I would be well deserving of a knife, because as of yet, my most expensive knife is a $40 knife, which is my hunting/survival knife. All of my folders are rather cheap folders, and my current EDC is a ~$10 chinese folder; and a better knife wouldn't hurt. I am a broke college student who is currently on summer "break", and has no job, so the prospects of getting any new knives anytime soon are slim to none.

I feel that I deserve to win because I'm young and just getting into knives, and for that reason I have very little income to expand a collection. I currently have about 8 folding knives (A couple of which are absolute crap), and 4 fixed blades (2 which are absolute crap). Anyways, I love knives just as much as everybody else, even if I can't afford many. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone!

Well, I don't get the chance to buy new knives very often and $60 is about the height of my budget. Not really sad about it really. I usually try to take my girlfriend camping and canoeing but we only have one big Kabar(my avatar). Too heavy for her to carry everywhere especially on a boat. Plus my girl uses the Tenacious I gave her at work to cut boxes and zip ties. She is the ONLY one at work who carries anything better than a box-cutter. I would like her to have something nicer like the Mini Griptillian she has been eyeing for six months. I was supposed to get her a yellow one for Valentines day but with our budget I just took her to dinner and a movie. We had fun though. Still, she asks for something else more durable and still people friendly. I love the fact that she truly appreciates knives and can take care of one.

I even made her this garter so she could carry her knife out when she wears dresses.

Really this would be for her and I know she would love it. How many of us are lucky enough to have a woman like that.

Thanks for doing such a great giveaway and it couldn't have come at a better time for us. Good luck to everyone.

Great giveaway! Well I would really appreciate a new knife, not for me, but for my friend. He is going into the navy, and I am hoping to get him a spyderco salt knife (in the price range). Unfortunately, I am also a college student, and with loans/bills/tuition, I am just scraping by as is. If i won the give away i would be able to give a gift to my good friend, without having to live on ramen noodles for a month (haha...college.). Thanks

First of all, thanks a lot for this giveaway! I would really appreciate a new knife because I have always wanted to give my best friend a high end knife for his birthday coming up in August. Times have been hard and I haven't really made a real purchase recently. My friend who I have grown up with since middle school and boy scouts lived off of decent Swiss Army knives. I recently got hooked on knives myself after a brief visit to my local knife shop that just opened just a few blocks away from my home. After losing my job teaching children from 4th to 8th grade at an afterschool, it has been hard for me to adjust. I have always wanted to share the wonderful concepts of high ends knives / companies like Spyderco, but was unable to when funds became scarce and limited. Now I'm doing full time at a university and seeing my friend has been hard. I'm hoping to reunite on his birthday (which we plan to do) and present to him a brand new knife to replace his old, almost 10 year old swiss army knife as a gift of friendship and hopefully even recruit a new knife addict!

Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity.
Cheers and God bless.
-Chris

thanks for the chance--get most of my knives by trading would be nice to buy something instead--:D

I would love to be a part of this contest! I would appreciate a new knife because I am going through some serious financial dificulties and will not have any new knife buying in the near future on my own.

I too am a broke college student. i'm trying to buy myself nice things that i will have and appreciate for years on a bouncers income of very little. i've tried and failed to get more hours where i work and elsewhere and what i have doesn't even pay the bills. Economy is rough where i'm at especially. I could give you a long sob story, but truth is, i beat it and am doing well considering. I'm proud of where i'm at in life and appreciate what you're doing. i too will participate in this wonderful tradition at some point.

if i were to win, i would honestly say i'd rather have a spyderco sharpmaker for the benchmade i recently purchased. it took every cent i had to get it and i'd like to be able to maintain it in the fashion it deserves.

do you count members from australia?

Because my house was broken into recently :( and nearly all of my knife collection was stolen.I'm down to my leatherman,a Kabar and a spyderco centofante 3.winning this would be a big morale boost for me. :)

This isn't an entry but I wanted to say that this is a very generous giveaway, especially from a student. Been there, done that - digging quarters out of the couch for beer and pizza, etc. Nicely creative ideas, too. except for the urinating part.

Good luck to you and to the hopefuls. There appear to be lots of folks here who would really appreciate a little boost.
