501 micarta in s35vn....dealer exclusive..

Gonna grab a green micarta and brushed SS one here soon.

For those of you who have one in hand, how's the lockup? Any wiggle?

Wow that was quick got mine today, two days.
As mentioned before, I got them for the SS bolsters and upgraded steel. They are not stamped "501" nor do they have the date stamp. I did notice this on the others after I had purchased them, not enough to keep me from buying them though. Really don't care for the green canvas micarta though.

Mine (green canvas) has a more texture than the SK burlap micarta or my original 70's burgundy micarta. Not really rough, and not a whole lot more than the other two versions that I have, but you can feel some texture.

Lockup on mine is solid with no wiggle. I should note that the blade is not centered, and when it is closed the lockbar is not flush with the liners (it is sunk near the pivot) but when open it is flush. Overall I am satisfied with it.

It is smooth and I'm fine with that. For lack of a better word, blah comes to mind. The pictures make it look better than it is. I skipped the heritage (iirc) 501 as it didnt do much for me.
I do like the brown micarta on the original moose skinner 535.

My Sk burlap 501 has far more texture than this canvas.

st8yd is correct. I did not have the SK version in hand when I made that statement. I pulled it out (this DLT version has been in the current carry since I got it) and saw that, indeed, the SK version has more texture to the scales. Both are winners in my book.

Hey guys, over the weekend one of our customers noticed the bolsters on his knife were tarnishing and alerted us, we checked with Buck as we believed it was brushed stainless on the bolsters, they let us know that the bolsters are in fact brushed nickel silver, not brushed stainless. I apologize for the differing info earlier in this thread, it was believed to be accurate at the time, we are updating the listing to reflect the bolster material.

disappointing. think many of us really wanted stainless...is what it is......

thanks for the heads up.....

Very disappointing. I saw it tarnish after one day of pocket carry and contacted Jordan about it.
I'm disappointed, I know you're very disappointed as the stainless bolsters is all ya really wanted ...

I have carried mine in my pocket for 7 days now and the bolsters have not tarnished
its getting to be super sweat season down here in Florida where st8yd and I are located. still a great knife with nickel silver, just the stainless was a big want.

I’ve never seen nickel silver tarnish that quickly and none of my knives with NS has tarnished even after thirty years. In pocket or in storage. I am wondering if there were something around that got on the bolsters, maybe on hands or in the pocket material or contaminates. As a matter of fact I’ve had some stainless show rust before the NS. Either that or a bad batch of nickel silver.

And neither have I.
And no contaminates, it didnt even get warm out till afternoon, I pulled it out to us the first time about 3pm to sharpen a pencil and happened to be standing so the sun glared off it and noticed it.

I seem to use knives that don't meet my expectations more because I don't care if they get beat up a little. Then because I use them more they become some of my favorites. I'm weird that way.
