50th Aniversary 110 now available....

I had some store credit left over from trading in my Ruger American Rimfire Compact .22LR, I had picked up the FG model I first posted about, a bucket of Remington golden bullets, and had some store credit left over still...

Tonight, I stopped back at KTP, and while at the knife counter, noticed they had an Ecolite 110 in green paperstone in stock, I had just enough store credit to cover it, so now I have my FG model for look in' at, and use inside the house, and an Ecolite for EDC, it's win-win!

The Eco is a great knife in it's own right, light enough to carry unnoticeably, but with enough heft to not feel delicate....

I just got my first Buck. And it's a 2014 anniversary edition too! I mail ordered so I wasn't expecting anything special. So it's a bit of a surprise with the tang stamp and inset.

I presume all 2014s are going to be anniversary editions??

Really beautiful knife. Almost too classic to use. (not!)

I was thinking about picking up a 110, and now with this 50th anniversary version it gives me an excuse that I must have one soon.

Have these started showing up at any retailers yet? I've been keeping my eyes out but so far no luck.

To those that said the inside of the leather sheath SCRATCHED their knife; I looked at both of mine, and neither have the piece of FELT they used to put in them. I will leave mine in the foam pack for now. For those looking;;;a company with NEW stock is that one "named after a river in South American", and good price, FREE freight if order is over $35....Just a tip...

The first thing I do with a new sheath is check inside to see if the rivets are covered. If not, I use a circle of self adhesive fuzzy side velcro to cover it.
The 501 sheaths have 3 exposed rivets inside

A regular handle and a finger groove handled 50th 110 arrived today from the factory in Post Falls, Idaho. Stunning knives. Jewels. Just a moment while I do a happy dance... OK. To continue, I couldn't be more tickled with them. Excellent cutlery Buck. Well done and thank you kindly.

The card that came with each knife really touched me. The Buck family has an admiral way with words. Very well done.

The factory had called the other day and said that although I had also ordered two small water bottles they only had one left and would I like the 50th Anniversary Larger water bottle to complete the order. That is a very very nice water bottle. Yes it is.

A few more photos of the new arrivals. Notice the "1964 50 YEARS" badge and how it is covered in clear something. It is smooth to the touch.

Good match on both knives with front vs back wood, color and grain.

BTW, if anyone wants the 50th badge AVATAR you see just ping me with some email and I will send you the jpg. Yes I will. 120 point max it is.

Not sure what it is about this new model? I've never been a big fan of the FG 110's, only have one or two in my collection but this one really, really appeals to me. Might be the great photos in this thread but I think I a new FG model will be heading my way pretty soon.

I got mine as well and I love it!

Congratulations it is a beauty. Rich dark wood inlays match side to side. The tang stamp is clean and crisp. The dark leather sheath looks sophisticated. I wasn't prepared for how clever the shield inlay would be. Before handling one I thought that it would be a metal imprint with depth but it is smooth and smart looking and should be easy to keep clean.

Thanks! And I agree Oregon, what I found interesting is that there is no "BUCK" on the tang. I'm curious as to why this wasn't implemented. Some have also come with the anniversary medallion and some without.

Do watch your new leather sheaths; the source in Mexico and Buck have apparently decided the press on the top snap is smooth enough to no longer require the felt pad installed.; on another thread 2 people complained of scratches from rough rivets; I will to to Walmart and get some Felt circles and stick them inside mine to insure no one complains. At least the knife is packed in the foam and not shipped in the sheath. 99

All right. I've now had this 50th anniversary 110 in my possession for about 2 weeks. It's pretty. Too pretty. I can't seem to put it to use.

Since this is a normal 2014 production run. I presume there are going to be tens of thousands made.

What's the chances of this becoming a valuable collectible in 2 decades? Im thinking of just storing it away as the 'safe queen'. Although I've never done that before for a knife or a tool.

I noticed the non-finger groove 50th 110 in the knife display of a certain army surplus/outdoor store in SE Portland, Oregon (A & B on Grand) while shopping to replace worn winter gear/clothing today. I talked with the capable knife buyer and he lit up like a Christmas tree when I congratulated him on his taste in merchandise. He launched into a heart-warming story of Buck knives and the 110 lock back that made me smile from ear to ear. Its Oregon so the large clean glass case was full of out-the-front automatics, super steel tech wonders and the 110 braced by a 300 solitaire and a Buck flipper. The Bucks were located front row, center of the first level. Right where the kids and those with good knees (for bending) would see them first. Kids and adults love a legend. What a terrific knife.

picked up a 110 today.
