50th Aniversary 110 now available....

I already used up my two BCCI buys for the year.
I ordered a regular and a finger groove 50th Anniversary 110 directly from Buck on Friday.
That leaves just the Stars and Stripes 110 and the Chairman 110 for 2014 that I either don't have or don't have on order.

I used my bcci last year to buy the 110fg . I just picked up the regular 110 for 35 bucks on the bay . I could not see using my discount.

When you were playing in the custom shop, did you see the Paua Shell scales?
Those with no rivets, S30V blade and in a nickel silver frame, are my dream 110!

My daughter really wants the paua shell. We were looking at in on the Buck website with nickel bolsters and a mirror polished blade and a black oxide blade. Both are pretty sweet. I like it without rivets but she likes it better with. My only concern with getting rivets is those could all be potential spots for cracks to form in the paua.

My 50th anniversary 110 count is up to six as of today…two SMKW, two regular 110's and two finger groove 110's.
They are all perfect in every way!! Beautiful snap, great alignment and excellent fit and finish.

My local wally world carries the 110, but had been out for months. The other day I noticed that they were back in and had the 50th logo, When I flipped it over I was disappointed to see the nylon sheath. What determines who carries the nylon vs. the leather sheath. Is it luck of the draw, different retailers get different ones, or just manufacturing cycles?

AFAIK the leather sheath only comes with boxed knives. If you are looking at a blister pack at Wally World then it will have the nylon. If it's a boxed 110 then perhaps WW specified the nylon to make their price point?

Great photo Stumps!!!

Oh, ok, I got you. Thanks. So basically the blister packs are sold more through big chain retailers and the box knives are sold through specialty knife shops. The blister packs perhaps being cheaper and including the nylon sheath.

Check the online store with the same name as the big river....
You could find a 110 with leather sheath for a similar price point there.

Ordered a finger groove and a standard ...they arrived but the standard did not have the medallion but does have the 50th blade stamp...after a quick call to Buck they are going to replace it with one with the medallion Great Customer Service

Bob, That standard knife was VERY rare in the configuration you FIRST received. I hope you didnt do the switch....Rich

Yep did the switch did not even think about it being rare until Someone mentioned it here after I had already sent it back oh Well

I saw another like that on the popular auction site, regularly priced as I recall. I betcha if you really wanted one like that, no stinking :) badge, you could find one.

Will the 2014 Chairman and the Stars & Stripes have the 50 inside Anvil tang stamp? I've already seen it on some Chairmen with nylon sheaths. I think the 2014 Chairman is coming with a brown leather sheath.

I've been watching build dates on 110's available locally and on eBay. It appears to me that Buck started using the 2014 blade late in November. I've seen standard 110's, Chairman's, and EcoLites with December 2013 build dates and the 2014 blade. They are gonna be scarce in the future but can be readily found now by scouring your local retailers for current inventory if you're really wanting one without the shield. I think Ecolites with the 2014 blade will be the rare ones to find as they are discontinued for 2014. I've got the red already and hoping to find a green.

Smoky Mountain is runnin shieldless 110's right now with the 2014 stamp and a pad print on the blade to make them "really special". The are on the front page of the latest catalog. Can you say scotchbrite..... :)

Just to clarify Smokey mountain knives, Qty 2000, indicate 50 years from the DESIGN of the 110 in 1963, all others should have the "special" 1964 blade!

How rare we talking? We're talking about a 50th blade stamp on regular scales without a medallion? I still have mine. Should I not be using this at all?

I want to buy a new 110 now, but I want a user. If I shouldn't use the one I have, but also don't want one with the 50th anniversary medallion on the scales... I gotta wait till next year for one NIB with no medallion?

IMO it's meant to be used because it's just a standard 110 and nothing too special, it just happens to have a 50th stamp. Let it get scratched up and baptized into a real user knife....I use my 50th anniversary 110 as a user knife and I am not worried about scratching it or what not, but I still take care of it and keep it oiled and sharp.

It's not hard to find a new in box 110 with no 50th stamp or medallion.

This is a great year for someone like me that collects Buck 110's!! :)

My only problem so far is that I was informed that I didn't put my order in the the four piece 110 50th Anniversary display soon enough, so now I have to hope to somehow stumble onto one of those.
I put my order in early last December and I just found out this week I didn't make the cut. :(

BUT, this came today and it is absolutely perfect like the other seven 50th anniversary 110's I already have!!

I am very happy to see that it seems all of these 50th Bucks are being shipped out with centered blades. I order one of the 4th quarter 50th's and I have been worried about centering. Sweet...
