Hey JM! Hope you are well. Do you still have that (Raker) knife in 52100 I brought to Paris? Best wishes to you. Please say hello to Fred if you are in touch.

It's been too long.

Yes Eliot ! I still got it and it has now a beautiful rounded handle ! :-)

I would love to. And if you ever make it to my part of the world, please know you're always welcome as you were those years ago.

(I have a Para 3 in Rex 45 due in on Saturday.)

I really love 52100.
Took it to the beach again because I needed a strong knife for General Purpose beach task.
Slicing open cookie, hot dog packages maybe fillet a fish.

Very light batoning "Yeah I know, shoulda used a fixed blade" Making kindling for the fire pit and feather sticks.
52100 never missed a beat or lost its edge.

I took it out of my pocket and left it with my wife while I surf fished.
All was fine. I dried off and put it back in my pocket.

When I got home later that evening I saw this.

I didn't rinse my hand of salt water... Oh well.
High Carbon steel rust... I knew that before hand.

Cleaned it up this morning. A little CLR on the rust.
Presto.
Back to normal....

Yes... I know high carbon steel is not ocean safe.
The natural patina has been fine on protecting the steel while at the beach in the past.

Next time... Rinse off.

I always feel like the knife is more mine as it begins to get a patina or scratches or dings. I am no prize pig myself....why should my knife me pretty? She looks better than new!
