I ordered a basic 154cm version. Did not even think about the REI offering. S30v would have been sweet, though. Wonder how much more $$ than the 154cm.

I like the blade grind of the 531 as well. I wanted a Mini-Stryker but found the blade of the 531 better for my needs. Priced better too. I find it interesting that your Grip was kicked to curb by the 531. I own a Volli and a 551 Grip. Maybe they will take a back seat to the 531. Time will tell.

BTW, what do you like better, the 530 or 531?

Like the 531 more for sure. Like I said the 530 is great for warmer weather etc. I even take it in the water without issues. Just got to rinse and dry it out.

I used to have a 531. I liked it but I wasn't crazy about the handle shape. Soooo... I changed it a bit.

I love the symmetrical coffin look.. Especially the spiked ends on the Golds, they look like one of Mel's file-worked customs..

Is anyone making scales for these? I haven't seen any in my admittedly brief search.

I've been toeing the line on a 53x purchase for a while now. I like the handle on the 530, but not the blade grind and I like the blade on the 531 but not the two tone g10 handle.

Sadly, having just had a baby, I don't have the funds to make a Franken-Pardue so I'm left with getting a 531 and rescaling it. If I can find scales that is.

If the color of the 531 scales is the main hang up, what about just dying them black with Rit dye?
