Wow thanks for such a generous gesture!
For me it would be a single blade Wharncliff,Sheepsfoot,Lambsfoot style blade with natural scales, preferably 3 or less inches in length.

This is a really cool idea for a GAW.
Thanks for sharing your milestone with us!

I'm thinking of a
Case sowbelly in CV

Doesn't have to be yellow but that's all I'm seeing.

And a
Mercator black cat

Or Douk Douk (your choice)

And one of these

I think my list is under the limit but if not, just limit my selfishness by a knife or so .

Thanks again for the awesome GAW and congratulations on your 5k, 5k!

Great idea!!! Thanks for the opportunity!

I'd pick a GEC #15 crown lifter in antique yellow bone. I had one, and gave it to my buddy as a gift. Wouldn't mind having one again!

Good luck to all!

Very well conceived, Gary. You might call this the eponymous giveaway.

I really enjoy your posts, particularly your advocacy for inexpensive knives.

If you should pull my number I would select a Maserin plow in either wood finish, a Case peanut in chestnut bone and CV, and three or four Okapi Biltongs in special grade, which I would move forward to proselytize for this nifty little pocket knife.

Five thousand posts, every one a gem! Seriously, your encouragement and enthusiasm brings so much value to the forum. :)

I hate to throw off your knife buying schedule, and I don't need any more knives, but this is the season for making lists, so...
I've had my eye on a #35 Churchill in Ebony.

Congrats on the post count, GT! I'm pretty sure all 5k(+) posts have benefitted this forum- either through advancement of knowledge, appreciation of fine photography, or a laugh.

I really appreciate your GAWs for their Ourside-the-Box style, and this one, especially in its immense generosity, is no different.

The knives you've picked up from your daughter's travels to Spain have especially caught my eye. If I were to be chosen as the lucky winner, I'd love to get one of those mid-sized, leaf-bladed, olive wood-handled Cudeman folders.

Thanks, GT! Good luck everyone!

Fabulous generosity, GT, much appreciated and I'm in.

I'd love a hummingbird acrylic Northfield #35 Churchill.

This is not an entry since I have been blessed recently to have won another, but I wanted to chime in to say congratulations on the milestone and to let you know that came up with a creative GAW!

I've often hosted give-aways when I hit post number milestones (e.g., 1000 posts, 3456 posts) or BF membership anniversaries (1-, 2-, 3-year). I knew I was nearing 5000 posts, and since my BF username is 5K Qs, I wanted to have a GAW to mark that milestone. I noticed today that 5K posts have come and gone (barely), so I'm posting this GAW thread.

For such an auspicious milestone , I want to try something different. My financial commitment to knives is rather low-budget; I typically allow myself about $30/month for knives, and usually buy about $100 worth of knives every 3 months or so. It's been a while since my last purchase, so I'm "due" for another buying spree, but I thought I'd forego that purchase and instead reserve the funds for this GAW.

Here's the basic idea. If you'd like to participate, post an entry listing up to $100 worth of knives (traditional folders only) you'd like to own. Post only the brands and models of the knives, not the prices and dealers! I'll randomly select a winner and contact the winner to make arrangements to purchase and ship the knives. So you pick knives (again, traditional folders only, please), and I'll pay for them, up to $100. You may pick 20 $5 knives or 10 $10 knives (that's my quarterly purchase habit ;)) or 1 $100 knife, or any combination of knives with total purchase price ≤$100.

When you post your entry, please be as specific as possible in identifying the knives on your list: brand, model, handle material and color, blade shape, etc. If you can post "stock photos" of the knives, feel free to do so. And please verify that the knives on your list can actually be purchased currently for the prices you think they can! It might be good to have a list of prices/dealers on hand if you win so you can give me pointers on where to buy the knives listed in your entry.

I plan to let this GAW run until 6pm EST on Black Friday 11/24/17. Have fun thinking up a list, and best wishes to all the entrants!:D I hope it will be almost like Christmas in December!!

- GT

We’ll be needing your entry too, good sir. Make with the details. :)

What a great GAW! A good reminder that there’s a selection of amazing traditionals that can be had without utterly destroying the bank. Here’s my three. Thanks for the chance, brother!

A. Wright & Son Spearpoint with wood handle

Opinel #7

RR1690 Rough Rider Premium Select Stockman

Congrats on 5k posts!
Very generous of you to do a give away, sir.

#81 Bull Moose in Natural Canvas micarta

Thanks for this generous GAW, GT, and congrats on the 5K milestone!

As I'm in the Philippines and not that familiar with the myriad of choices available, all I'm lusting after is a Wharncliffe traditional slipjoint in single blade configuration and the most traditional looking bone or stag scales. Something akin to the Case Swayback Gent. Getting a GEC Wharncliffe (e.g., #18 Coyote) will be sweeter if within the budget. The rest of the $100 might as well be allocated for shipping to my country (around $14); so the knife ought to be around $86. :)
