5Th Element Knives

Wow, those are some wild looking designs! I like 'em. Hey, if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. The TAD guys are very good people. Sorry if someone has had a bad experience but all this negative talk is really uncalled for.

Wow, you guys must hate Fred Perrin, Laci Szabo, Allen Elishewitz, Bram Frank, Jerry Hossum, Steve Ryan, Ernest Emerson, and Duane Dieter.

Mr. Atwood, I thank your for your concern, It is funfortunate that TAD Gear and I have had problem since TAD Gear do offer many attractive items. I agree with the issues regarding to neagtive comments including personal attacks made by a member of forums, and the harsh remarks made by a forums member toward over all product selections which I have found improbable without fair and factual basis.

Although I have agreed with your concerns I have opinions regarding to the comment your have stated. "Hey, if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all", I find this comment rather peculiar from someone of your occupation. I am sure you have had your share of criticisms in your work of knife making, and at professional or business level I'm surprized you have such a shallow views toward opinions based on fair facts. Last two days I have only stated criticisms based on TAD Gear's business practice. I understand you and nifrand are friends and affliates of TAD Gear and its staff, but I just ask you two for some respect on criticisms based on business aspects, I have no intention of humiliating your friends.

Biting TAD's butt doesn't belong on this forum.
Please go to Good,Bad and Ugly. There a few other people await your complaining. Also if you do not like TAD's service,do not purchase from them.Simple

Nifrand, thank you for your advice I will take your opinions under consideration.

Here is some advice from me. Don't you think this thread should have been over a while back with just a minor opinions if you have not made personal attacks with unrefined words toward others inculding myself? You have just caused more criticisms about a business you care so much about. You must be pretty slow if you have not caught up with the idea, but hey its never too late to see things differently at an old age. But your last thread was very nice, except for a "Biting TAD's butt".

RNO601.What idea was that? The idea that some guy with 12 posts comes on a forum and starts talking trash about a business that would not cater to his whims? What has my age have to do with anything?
Unrefined words?
What are you,all of 32 years old? What advice could you possibly give me? Or anyone else for that matter.
I have a few words of advice for you.Enjoy the forums. They are a neat place to learn about knives and do not be too critical of people or business's you know nothing about. And do not call me old or grampa to my face.

BTW I am not an affiliate of TAD.

Whoa, looks like a party here:rolleyes:eek:  Let's cool it down. We all know how popular some maker's knives can be. As a business, TAD Gear probably receives about 300 phone calls a day and atleast a 1000 emails daily. Let's say your email is like 500, by the time they see that you want that particular knife it will probably be sold to the guy who made a phone call. That is just simple logic. I always recommend to others to make a call when they see something they want. Otherwise, don't be mad when you loose out.

Now, we all have bad day once in a while. Let's not make this into the biggest thing in our lives. That matter is already sorted out. And if you have had a negative dealing with someone wouldn't you talk it out with that person. Just trashing or negative remarks really does not help. Call them up and say what is on you mind. It works a lot better;)

Designs. There are so many and I love them. To me, I never judge before I really had a chance to handle them. I love new concepts and new ideas. I believe that is the evolution of everything. I also like to keep an open mind.

;) Answering the original question, the designs aren't my "daily carry" type but do have something cool in the looks.

As for TAD, I join "the crowd" that have dealt with them in the past and didn't have problems. I also find their marketing language not much different than marketing languages of other providers. I almost wonder that nobody raised a critical word yet that the images they post are "too expressive"

Take it easy guys, let's enjoy the knives.

I happen to like the 5th element neck knives. My guess is the materials and standards will be high. As for TAD, while I have never actually purchased or ordered anything, they keep my interest high with interesting new products, and have answered my questions promptly. They have some way cool hard to find knives and other gear. I cant think of anything they sell that is poorly made. They do not tend to cater to nuts and bolts basic kinda knife guys. I check their site most every week to drool over what they have.:D

They still kind of look like wall hangers to me, i might buy one if the price was right, but i am pretty certain that it wont be. I just want to know how we are going to classify them? What are they? And i assume that nobody knows these guys.

I think we can get off the : is TAD bad?, thing. They carry a lot of silly stuff, and a lot of good stuff, and due to email volume they tend not to answer, if you want good customer service you can always shop at 1sks, and lots of other great places.

(the reference to the fact that we dont like dont was in regtards to TAD's booting from the forum for some unsportsman's like conduct)

But i am addicted to the TAD whats new page.

IMO the knives are pretty interesting. I too would like to see them grind them because those are certainly some nice lines.

As far as TAD - I have ordered from them several times and only had one problem with them. They said that an item would be in in two days and it ended up taking a week. They gave me free shipping and apologized, however.

I ordered from 1SKS a couple time - small orders. One time I was informed that my shipment was to go out that day. A week later, no package, I called and was told "oh, the package didn't ship because the batteries you ordered haven't come in yet." I waited, no apology. Made it sound like I should have known. I let spark know... was a little sarcastic, but nice considering the main item was a gift and was in stock. No apology, no response either.

1sks gets no more business from me (not a big loss for them). Still like this site, however.

We're not carrying 5th element knives (I'm not saying anything about the design), nor are we TAD, so I don't know why we've been dragged into this thread?!?

Krept, Sorry that you had a problem with the service you got from us - sometimes items run out of stock when you've got 40,000 skus in the system. We don't blow off customers, because every customer is important to us. Just FYI, we've gone through 2800 SureFire batteries this year - your order was probably around the time that our last batch of batteries got held up by UPS misrouting them by accident. Those suckers are hard to keep in stock even when you order 1200 at a time! :D

Anyhow, give me a call next time you need something - I'll be more than happy to make sure you get taken care of. If it's SureFire related, I'll even give you a "Sorry, we screwed the pooch" discount - same as anyone else we inadvertantly offend. Life is too short for bad business.

i really wanted to talk about some of the aspects of the design of these knives since they are so. . odd. Not customer service from the Internet knife dealers.

More of my thoughts

the handles look like they would militantly contour your hand (not to your hand) and would only allow one type of grip (at best). The blades dont apear to be utility oriented so i can only conclued that they are fighters. It seems that they have taken the concept that MOD has (near fantasy like knives) to the next level, and i am not sure that i am comfortable with it.

I like many radical designs, Al Mar Warrior, Strider Zombie Killer, heck the Spyderco Civilian is a pretty radical design,; but these just dont do it for me.

For some reason my tastes are gravitating toward more traditional fixed blades (KWM stuff), while my folder tastes still remains "high tech"

Hey,

this is not a customerservice war thing. So let that die. We are all cool with one another here. As for the design. I am dying to get my hands on one. I can't wait to see how they perform. I think that you are right that they are purely fighters with some utility blended in. The handles look really secure. Both forward and reverse. But if you know me you would know I like curvy. I hope to have one of these babies soon.

You guys are right, my bad. I just call things as I see them customer-service wise. Will always (always) chime in when a company I received good or bad service from is mentioned . (
I think we can get off the : is TAD bad?, thing. They carry a lot of silly stuff, and a lot of good stuff, and due to email volume they tend not to answer, if you want good customer service you can always shop at 1sks, and lots of other great places.

Absolutely didn't mean to drag this into a war at all.

FWIW, I'm stoked by modern looking designs like those from 5th Element. Looks like they would make a mean kerambit as well. Whether or not they are superhero approved or made from the latest materials, etc. the blade geometry is striking.

These fall into the "Klingon-Sex-Toy" catagory along w/ Ryans/Hobbits/Civilians. The handle ergos look like they may work very well. The grinds are interesting- wonder how they cut. I'd love to get one of the neckers into my fisties & see how they feel. Price point?

I like 'em. A lot. I love exotic blades and wish that more manufacturers of quality knives would do original and creative work like these. I'm getting (more than) a little tired of the same old tactical folders, utilitarian fixed blades and boring hunters that many manfucaturers seem to focus on. The traditional-styled stag and wood handled pieces that went out of style 50 years ago can go away and die for all I care as well. This is 2002 after all...

I have enough EDC and utility-type knives to last a few lifetimes at this point. I want cool and unique stuff along the lines of Ryan, true custom Emerson and Szabo for example, however these blades are highly overpriced and are never available for purchase anyway. These 5th Element knives seem to contain the essence of what I like in those blades and others. Hopefully they will be for sale at a price that a sane person can afford and more importantly not impossible to obtain!

The bottom one, why? This looks to much like the Pakastani crazy junk that gets sold at flea markets and gun/knife shows. The more I return to this thread and go back and look at these knives the more they grow on me. Except for the two above. Just plain don't like anything about em'. If they wouldn't put those cutouts in the handles around the serrations I might start to really like these knives.
