6/28/08 question of the day

Does a Leatherman Charge Ti count as 1? If so, then that is my pick, with my Ritter Grip as my trusty folder.

I suppose that until I get my own bravo-1, I'll just have to rely on the North Star.

The more knives we have, the tougher the choice. With a folder in my pocket, I might consider taking this

or this RD4

I'm guessing it would be the BRKT Golok that I currently have on order. Haven't been able to use it yet, but this sounds like the niche it was made for. Other good candidates would be a GB Wildlife hatchet, Martindale Golok #2, SW Chopweiler or SW Rat Mastiff.

in my opinion it depends on a few different things like whether you have a shelter and a stove packed, what kind of distance (if at all) you are looking to cover during the day, etc.

if you have to make a shelter every night and use a fire for warmth and cooking, i would go hatchet or 3/4 axe. if this is more of a stationary camp, i would go full axe.

if you have a tent and sleeping gear and a stove for cooking, then i would bring a mid size fixed blade (my mora). it will be mostly for food prep and splitting up small pieces of wood for occasional "feel good" fires, so it doesn't need to chop and it should be light for going longer distances...

If I was Rescue Riley...it would be a Becker BK7..if it was me...right now..Hmm?
Hardwood means the wood is tough to split...since I hate folders (pre-broken knives) I would have a small fixed, so I am cheating and going with the Axe!

He said it was 90 degrees during the day dropping to 60 at night, 60 degrees is comfortable for me, so fire is for boiling water and cooking, I went fixed blade.

I would love to say bravo-1 but mine hasn't come yet so I guess that would be cheating.:D. Well I edc two blades, a swisstool RS and a kershaw storm So I guess it would be the dark-ops fiskars.:D:thumbup:

Ok...since I EDC 7 knives at last count, I will pick one and say it is the CRKT Kasper. I would add an axe and be just peachy.

Because I already have my Trusty folder, I would probably take my Gransfors small forest axe. there are othe blades i prefer but i beleive that a folder and an axe would be a more well rounded combo than a folder and a medium fixed blade.

Gene,, Yep you guessed it...I got caught in a down pour on my last camping trip, had my vic farmer and my bk7..Had to split and whittle through alot of wood to get to the dry stuff, and managed to keep the fire going all night...a few licks on a strop and she was shaving sharp again...
