My dogs cringe at going "catawampus" and, you know the political reality of majority rule in my household ... so I keep the angle within specs, for sure. Wish to heck I knew what I am talking about but I'm ok with it :D You are dead on! I think ...
 
I think that mostly for when you are swinging a hammer, so as not to smash the nail of your favourite finger :)

And the street we live on is Pioneer Rd, and just so happens my large SAK I carry daily is a....wait for it....a Pioneer !!!

And so the story grows!
