7 inch blade is about right for everything.

With a few exceptions to the rule
<4" is folder territory for me
>6" and I'll usually just grab a machete these days

Ergo, by my calculations, 5" is absolutely without a doubt 110% correct to be the perfect size for an EDC fixed blade...

*(except for when it isn't)...

A big knife can do little knife things, but a little knife can't do big knife things. Context of use here is pretty important too.

Strange attempts at humour aside, I'd have to mostly agree. 6-8" is my preference in fixed blades.

Ok I'll play along.

Your logic is correct but incomplete. You have outlined the proof. If you proved statements a) and b) it would indeed prove your claim, but you have not proved those statements.

Fortunately there is an easy fix for this. All you need to do is add a line at the bottom saying "the proofs for a) and b) are trivial and left as an exercise for the reader." Boom. Done.

Most of my knives have ended up being in the 7" range.

Choppy when you choke back on the handle, easily used for finer tasks when you choke up, I like my 7"er

..rules out CPK

What if were to tell you CPK were so compelled by my logic they asked if they could do a limited edition and name it "Houla 7", only going to be 777 ever made.

This post may or may not be authorised by CPK......you decide.

If anything, 7" is a lost size unless you plan on hand to hand combat. They're usually too light and short to be a heavy camp knife, etc...., and too long to be a general purpose knife. 5-6" is a nice range for a general outdoor knife, I've always thought.
