Besides several small cuts I did a pretty stupid thing about a year ago......I should mail a piece of steel to a makerfriend.....wanted to ride my bike so I attached the package to the bikes frame with plastic strips....when I wanted to remove them again I used my knife in the right hand while holding the bar with the left...result was a stab on the back of my hand about 1/2" deep...hit the fleshy part between thumb and index and the knife was stopped by bone....good thing was that I was able to get back to work same afternoon after getting a few stitches.

Jens,
Where I work one of the operators did a similar thing with the "tie-wraps" or plastic strips as you call them. He stabbed himself in the forearm somehow. What resulted (after a month long "investigation") was that every operator was issued a set of diagonal cutters.

RDT Those stitches look more like shoe laces than stitching size string! Where did you find that hack of a doctor anyway? They are not even straight! I could do a better job with my basic first-aid training. I would at least have put smaller ones and more of them closer together. Did he charge you for the job or just do it free for the practice? How old is the doctor 13? He isnt a dislocated timber industry worker that is on a retraining program I hope.

On the brighter side of things....that is going to be cool scar!

Bruce, I cannot tell you how many people have said the same thing about the job he did. He did a crap job for sure but he did have a decent bedside manner. He was accomodating and all that. He was probably about 35 yrs old, typical ER doctor on call. They guy who I saw last week who tried to take them out and popped three open was a total hack ! He was maybe 30 yrs old, and just didn't seem sure of what to do when they opened up. He had to get a couple othert doc's to come in and take a look at it and advise hime what to do. The Hospital near me Maimonidese is not what I would call a first rate establishment. Though they boast first rate care. I had a Subdural hematoma (head injury to the left side of the head causing swelling and excessive blood collection to brain). At the time I had no insurance, they left me in the ER waiting room for 11 hours before they gave me a room. All they kept asking was how am I gonna pay for this. I couldn't even reply I was in such pain. My mind was totaly screwed. They had this so called proceedure where they didn't feed me for three days and just IV'd potassium. As well they could only give me a Codein and Tylenol combo for the pain which did almost nothing. Luckily I healed faster than expected and they didn't have to open my skull up and manually reduce the swelling which is what was initially proposed. OUCH ! I can only imagine what would have happened if they did that. Then after the 3 day stay they slap me with a $10,000. bill !!!. I 'm like for what ??!, I got one meal out of them and that was the same afternoon the discharged me. They gave me no real pain killers orcare other than a catscan. I really hate the healthcare/medical,and pharmaceudical industry ! :D
