We are coming out of the ouachita and going to make are way to Memphis. River is narrow and twisty. It pains me deeply to miss college football, for all of you that indulge enjoy and everyone have a good weekend View attachment 1203754 View attachment 1203755
That's cool willard0341 willard0341 I just happen to be from the area of the headwaters of the Ouachita river. Sounds like you have an interesting job. Oh, and enjoyed viewing your 77 Washington!

So if I’m following you here and in this discussion in general, the early 2013 crown lifter from the first run Radio Jacks is thicker at the tang than the lifters used on the 2014 and later Radio Jacks, Beer Scouts, etc? If I recall you had compared the functionality of the two lifter shapes and believed the 2013 style was better. Does the thicker 2013 variant have more “backbone” (stiffness perhaps?) than the 2014 and later crown lifter?

No, I think they are the same thickness, and when I was talking about the one being thinner than the other that was answering a modding question as I had to thin it out to add it to a particular 77 as it was replacing the secondary blade whereas on another I did not have to thin it as it was replacing a punch which is the same thickness. About the difference between the pre 2014 and the post 2014 I do think the older one works better but as a function of the cut out being longer and stretching to the other end of the cap. The old one pulls off the cap without bending it but the newer version bends it while pulling it off which seems to sometimes require a couple extra pulls around the edge. I think the new version has some historical significance that the other does not but I’m not sure. Also I have to say the I only have one of each kind so it’s a very small sample. If you want to send me any of yours I could do more testing, that spear beer scout would be fine.

Well I need to bring home my good calipers but the 2013 crown lifter is clearly thicker from tang and well down the spine than the 2016 crown lifter (the stock is thicker). This is a 2013 Radio Jack and a 2016 Crown Lifter side by side.upload_2019-10-23_18-13-28.jpeg
