Nice collection! Well worth the effort. I know I have issues getting some of mine to Canada. Exchange rates, shipping charges, long waits through Customs but you have gone the extra 2000 miles to acquire these.![]()
I thought I would take this opportunity to say hi as I post a photo of my 78 frame collection. Sorry about the poor iPhone image.
I have collected different knives for a little while and just last year picked up my first GEC. As a UK based collector it is a bit harder but no less fun. I have other GEC'S I will post as as well.
Getting a wicked patina on my favorite user right now. The wacky rainbowing isn't showing up in this pic. This knife is so aesthetically appealing to me, I have a hard time leaving it on the nightstand.

Thanks! The notch was a fun little project and really rounds out the knife as a duty carry. I've almost clicked buy on a two blade a few times but I don't even carry the stag 78 I bought. I'm considering letting it go, in fact. It's a little too nice to use, i think.Great looking EO and patina
...
But....I'm really missing a two-blade pattern for daily carry, so I just ordered one in Ebony. Hooray tax refund!
I know what you mean. While I have yet to own a knife that's too nice to use, there are particular Northfields that I had to talk myself out of lest they be consigned to a drawer somewhere. Thanks! My first 'nice' bushcraft knife was a rather pricey Woodlore clone, and I has no hesitation putting it to hard use. There is something special about a finely crafted and good looking folder that is a bit harder, and I think just using it and getting it over with is the best betIt's weird, I have no problem beating the heck out of my $300 bushcraft knife but the stag Northfield is just too pretty. I have a Northfield 81 that I got for Christmas from my wife. When I told her I was immediately hesitant to carry it she raised and eyebrow so I stuck it into a hunk of prime rib right away and put an end to that! But I'm torn with the stag 78. It's my only stag knife and it's fantastic (at least to my uneducated eye) so I'm proud to own it but I can't see myself messing up that mirror polish. I just need to put it on the chopping block I think.
Awesome! Wish I'd have picked up one of the peach seeds. Are those dogwood blossoms? Is spring that close already??Still my favorite pattern of all
Not dogwoods, Im pretty tree dumb so Im not sure what they are, smell a bit funky though. As for the 78, of the ones Ive had this one and the enony are my favesAwesome! Wish I'd have picked up one of the peach seeds. Are those dogwood blossoms? Is spring that close already??

If it's the certain smell I'm thinking of, very ummm...diSTINKtive, inappropriate fashion, it's a Bradford Pear. I should've recognized it...We had a bunch in our yard until a major storm wiped most of them out. I guess the root structure is pretty shallow. Anway, love the photo...this is one thread I always read! Not dogwoods, Im pretty tree dumb so Im not sure what they are, smell a bit funky though. Beat me to it!These are Bradford Pears, I believe. They are everywhere in my neighborhood and they indeed have a funky, musky smell to them. They usually do not bloom in February, but it’s been unseasonably warm of late.

Ya got a good one Ron! I like the long dark lines on the mark side stag. Looks like it'll be comfortable to handle too. Very nice! You are gonna enjoy that one for a long time, congrats.Well I resisted as long as I could! My first 78 arrived in yesterday’s mail. I’ve had it in my pocket all day. So far so good!
