I just walked in from grinding all day. Lately I have been putting a lot of hours... knives are addictive.

Here's what I started with this morning, 9 knives in Damascus,

The Command Station
This is my grinding area, where most of the work is done.

KMG Grinder, Dust Collector Hose, Belts being used within reach, Dip buckets, random gear, under the table is a metal trash can with a vortex lid for most opf the crud that runs through the dust collector, it is a pre-filter. I use beer flats to keep my batches sorted and have about six going right now with different projects.

Belts...

2000 grit, one belt that is so high of a grit it has no name, cork belts and a leather belt - these are for finishing and stored in my "clean room"

Finishing Belts - these are for rougher to near or final finishing. I use 120-600 grit

Rough Ceramic Belts - I use these to profile the knives and grind the bevels, I have 40, 80 and 120.

Random belts and the lower ones are mixed up... I keep the current belts I am using there. The blue belts are Zirconia, I use them for sheaths and handles. I have a stack of scotchbrite belts in every grit too, they are nice for random tasks, satin finishes and deburring.

Lots of lighting... different spectrums too.

Man, I love those kiridashi's! Curves is where it's at!

Slightly off-topic but I'm curious, what is the gold belt you have on there?

hmmm are all these orders?? I like 2 of them a lot... moooooo

967 Cubitron - they rock, here is the best place for belts and a link to them http://popsupply.bizhosting.com/3m_2x72_ceramic_967_cubitron.html

I get an equal amount of these and the cubitron 2's for rough grinding. I am still not sure what I like the best. I lean to the yellow ones for 40 grit rough grinding and the II's for 80 grit.

I used to like Blaze belts but with the new backing they glaze my platen.... these 3m belts are so much better.

Not all, I think 3-4 are up for grabs! I'll have a couple of kiridashis and maybe a legal edc... maybe the Tanto too

The tanto is Lycosa's design, he gave me permission to use the design and it is here to stay. Just wait to see the grind lines, it is the best tanto ever! I think I will do a run in .062" A2 with coyote or black G10 scales. The grips will be ridged or grooved... you'll like it I know!

Looking great, Daniel.
Thanks for the peek into your World.

Thanks you for the great design! It seems to be an evolution of the early American Tanto design... a classic revitalized and improved.

I ran down to the shop and got a couple of quick photos! last night I was too dirty to operate the camera! :)

Tool of the trade... by the way I need some pre-filters on that mask! 3M full face respirator, ear protection/entertainment, apron (sometimes I just let my shirts set on fire or get that cool infused metal thing going) Gloves - I usually just wear them when working with the mill as it is oily, Green rag for keeping the knives dry after dipping in the cooling bucket. Welding hat, that is my tribute to the man, Bob Loveless. :D

Those Kiridashis look incredible! I am really enjoying the new style (not that there was anything wrong with the previous wrapped Kiridashis, mind you).:thumbup:

If there are any of these free, do you know when they would be available and how much one would set me back? I have an ESEE-4 I am planning on getting rid of and I am curious as to whether or not I can sell it before the Kiridashis are gone. :o

Fantastic Daniel!
I think I might even order one from you.
:D
Respect to the welding hat and Bob Loveless!

Thanks! The newer styled ones are also a classic Japanese design, you can't beat the time tested designs!

The curved ones are more of a standard style of cutter but can be used for scoring. They really index well and just sit perfectly in the hand with the blades edge right where you want it.

The original dashi is a very powerful scoring or deep cutting tool. With a tip down and a ski pole style grip they can't be beat for those tasks, they are geared for opening boxes, cutting cardboard, scoring kydex, leather and other tough cuitting.

The dashis will run $165 shipped with sheath in Damascus. I have one or two going up for sale and always plan on more.

Fantastic Daniel!

:D Big respect!

FAAAACK!

I just blew all that money on Hell Toad!

Does anyone need a kidney? A lobe of my non-drinker's liver? A fully functioning and barely used testicle? Lawn care? Pool cleaning? Best Friend for hire? In-laws terminally annoyed?

Bako- Tuff thumbz hell toad? That cleaver looking friction folder? Looks awkward to carry.. I have a first run version of the war toad by TT, but its small O_O

Hmmmm I could maybe use the liver...

Lycosa- where be the red knives!! You see that Watson lately? heheheh =x

sloth357- Pic yo.
I still have some Red knives. I'm learning to like other colors. :D
I might ask Daniel to use Coyote G10 on my first DFK.

I like the Coyote idea, sounds nice. I might get a sheet for the eventual run... I already have a sheet of red just in case!

Guys - I'm doing a small run of the Tanto Lycosa designed, it's going to be the ultimate EDC/SD/BMF knife! They will be light and slicey as can be with grooved grips.

I'm all giddy! :D
Thank you Daniel.
I was wanting to carry a small fixed blade again and this will be the one.

2:39a.m......1 and a 1/2 drinks.......lusting after Damascus 'Dashies......It's 2:40a.m.
