805 & S30v

Yep, that 121 looks alot like 1 I used to own:rolleyes: , but now its home is in Texas. I think there were 102 sets of the first series, 1 for Harold Klinkhamer and 1 for Chuck Buck, and 100 numbered. I believe the last production year for a 121 with fishscalers was 1967. Production was stopped because these blades were ground thinner than more modern 121's and were apt to snap, hard on a company with a lifetime warranty

I picked up the 2nd 805 thinking I would use it... Just cant see doing that tho, to a collectable....Grrr... thus the original topic of this thread... I also like the blade on this 819. Or are you saying that you have a true 119 in S30V??
Blade is too wide on the 119 for what I want'

Pack rat,
You bought 2 with the intent to use one.
Why not just use it? If you had a 105/805 made with S30V it would probably be more money anyway. Its not like you can hurt it, they way you intended to use it that is! Just because its shiny doesnt mean it HAS to be a collectible :D

I know....I guess its just a thing with me... I might... Heck, I even traded off a BAR .270 after the first time I took it out hunting. Just too purty to use... I had gotten it in another trade so came out real good on it.

maybe I will.....probably not....:o  :D

I know what you mean,
I'm the same way...
All my nice knives are in display. I just use the standard models.
I had a beautiful Browning A-Bolt Medallion in .338 Win Mag.
HAd to sell it too nice to beat on in the woods...
Now all my hunting firearms/muzzleloaders have black (plastic) stocks.

A-Bolt .270 stainless stalker composite, silver leopold 3x9, silver redfied. rings/base Pre-Boss. Don't need no boss... 1/2" @100

BROWNINGS ARE ACCURATE!!!!!!!!! SOME OF THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

I use a Stainless Ruger .264 Win Mag now. the 50th anniversary with a weaver 2X10 silver scope Under 1" @ 100 yds.
My .338 would shoot all bullets touching, had the boss and handloads...
I needed the boss with the .338 though OW:eek:

2 Muzzleloaders are just T/C Blackdiamonds one with weaver 2X10 scope and the other iron sights for the actual " muzzleloader" season
all users no safe queens :D LOL

I scored a Win super grade 7mm before they went out of business. I dunno if I really want to use it as a swamp gun. Thats what my 375 RUM is for!!! BTW, dont tell the wife, but I just placed an order @ Koval knives. I have some 154CPM on the way for prototypes! Now all I need is a donor 805 for the blade outline!

Oh, some canvas micarta also. I need to acquire a checkering kit. Anything more than 20 lpi looks sweet, but doesnt really help any for grip. I am gonna stick to maybe... 18 lpi.

do you have to have one in hand? How about an outline? 805 and 105 are Sooo close also...

Oh....you want to take it apart;.... I see.....not....:)

I could send you a full size copy off the printer...

Just curious...what's in that swamp that you need 375 RUM:eek: for? I was at the range when a member was sighting in his 300 RUM and decided that that was plenty for anything that walked North America:D. Preston

Well, a full size copy would work even better. Would that be in color?!?!

No arguments the 300 RUM is good enough. I do eventually want to go on a buff hunt. I reload my own for it, shooting 250gr Northforks over 94gr of H4350, and that is by no means a max load. I was looking for the KE of a full house 338 Winmag or 358 STA. Actually closer to the 358. I have not shot it yet with full power 300gr loads. Those loads that I shoot now are quite a handful already. Going to the range to practice is always fun. Everybody drops what they are doing and comes over to look @ the artillery in the plastic case. Everybody likes to watch me shoot it and when I offer it up, not one person wants to take it for a spin.

Definately not a work of art. I have no problem dragging this thing through the swamp. I have not had the chance to get the stock worked on, so I have the neoprene sleeve with comb raising foam under it. Those rings are Badger Ordnance rings made for the M82 Barrett 50cal semi auto. I also had the mount holes drilled and tapped out to 8x32 so I dont snap bolts in the receiver. You have to be on your game every time you shoot, cause if you dont the scope will smack you hard every time. 2 hands on it (no relaxing @ the bench slackers!), tight weld, stiff shoulder. Every time. The pigs are in trouble this fall!!

They know what takes who for a spin:eek: :D  . Good luck with your artillery, I mean, rifle;) . Preston

It aint all that bad, the rifle only comes up off the bench 8 inches when I pull the trigger!!:D

Was digging through the big toy box a while ago and ran across another forgotten model 805. Note the thumb notches. My dream knife keeps getting better.

I hate to even ask this because I feel like I should know. But in playing with the 805's and 121's. I found a 105 that I had stuck in a drawer and forgotten about.

Was sitting here putting my edge on it and got to wondering what steel it has.
Tang stamp is standard 3 liner with no date code. One pin in pommel that only shows on one side.

I'm going to sharpen it up and try it out here in another month or so.

Just curious as to the steel. Seems to be sharpening up ok so far. Still a ways to go anytime you put your first edge on one.
