I'm sure quite a few of you were watching this recent auction on eBay, it had a lot of followers. The bids were cancelled and the auction ended early so I figure the pictures are public domain now. I think about this auction because the knife is my personal Holy Grail. Additionally, it is about the 5th or 6th auction this past year for a rare Buck knife I was really interested in and the auction was ended early, sometimes with my bid being cancelled like in this case. It is always with high end knives. I assume it was a backdoor sale but the strategy eludes me. Is the seller is willing to take an offer for fear the auction won't perform as well but at the same time the buyer is making a back door offer for fear he won't win the item at fair auction? I guess it's "Bird in Hand" for the seller. Anyways, enjoy the pictures, it is a wonderful knife.

That's a beauty! I'd like a set of six for steak knives. Nobody else would have that at their dining table.

I have a few 901 D-Guards but the one that I have not seen for sale is the 911 3/4 D-Guard which is one that is 3/4 the size of the full size version.

They must not have made many.

I was the high bidder when the auction ended but i was almost certain my high bid was childs play for this grail knife. Things happen for a reason and this knife will end up where it belongs. Im just waiting for the Ivory equivalent.

Skyler's comment made me go look on eBay for D-Guards. I also noticed that Paratrooper knives are on the eBay "Not Allowed" list but I just typed it in and had 277 hits. So much for the rules.

THE d guard has to be smooth on the outer edges---with any kind of bumps it is considered a knuckle knife---from experience--and arguing with a foreign speaking ebay employee for a considerate amount of time.....of course I lost....ha!!!!!

ebay considers a "D" guard the same as a knuckle knife... I know for a fact, I have had one of my listings pulled and threatened with removal of points and can lead up to closing my account... Look up and see if it's legal or just call them, they'll tell you...

Ivory is the same way and Buffalo horn, ask DP....

Here you go....

Report Category

Reason for Report

Detailed Reason

The listing has brass knuckles, including those made from other materials, knives with raised knuckle guards or knuckle dusters, nightsticks, billy clubs, batons, or any other hand weapon against eBay policy.
Before reporting an item, please review the eBay Listings Policies.

  • The item complies with California law on the sale of weapons
    You cannot list:
    • Brass knuckles, including those made from any material other than foam
    • Knives with raised knuckle guards or knuckle dusters
    • Items in the shape of a brass knuckle if the item appears to be usable as a brass knuckle
    • Leaded canes, crutches, staffs, or sticks
    • Nightsticks, billy clubs, war clubs, batons, PR 24s, Monadnock batons, ASPs, tonfas, truncheons, and similar items (see exceptions above)
    • Nunchakus (also called nunchucks or numchuks), chain sticks, or two-section staffs (see exceptions above)
    • Throwing weapons such an Ninja stars and throwing cards (see exceptions above)
    • Sansetsukon or three-section staffs
    • Saps, sand clubs, sandbags, slung shots, or blackjacks (see exceptions above)
So, if a knife is illegal in California, it's illegal on ebay....

ebay may consider that but as you know each and every ebay employee has their own interpretation for every thing---one person will say this --call back in 10 minutes and ya get a different answer--right....there is no standard with feebay.

I knew the seller from past purchases so I asked. A back door offer was accepted. That is about the 5th auction in the past year for a high end Buck I was interested in that was ended early. Just can't bring myself to go that route, seems rude. Guess I'll never get the worm. (yes, I'm sour grapes)

Its always a bummer when you bid on a knife and its cancled..I think some sellers do it on purpose just to announce they have it and then to avoid Ebay fees sell privately.
