Absolutely different knives. I had a 940-1 but didn't care for the reverse tanto, so I sold it. I still have my 943-1 Franken as I much prefer that blade shape. I think the 940 series is sort of a compromise knife--utilitarian, small in pocket, and a lotta blade length in a compact package. It is the perfect light, unobtrusive EDC, but not a great cutter/slicer.
I don't find the PM2 to be at all large in pocket or hand. I generally carry considerably more substantial knives as my work and day-to-day life doesn't require more discreet carry. The fine tip on the PM2 lets me get into spots that would generally require a smaller knife and it is an excellent slicer
