950-1401 and 950-1401BK Rift Exclusives

As a Halloween knife and to match up with the black in the G-10 this knife begs to have a black blade!

imo, satin just wouldn't do those scales justice. and this one's definitely on the short list and will be summarily dubbed the 'charlie brown / great pumpkin' upon delivery. :D

Got mine, been carrying it a few days. I THINK this just may be one of the sweetest knives I have from Benchmade. But I'll admit, I'm not one to usually go for a limited edition. Centered, symmetric grinds (best I can tell), shaves like dedicated razor... can't find any problems with it -- although I didn't go looking. If flaws aren't apparent on a casual inspection, they aren't flaws to me. I'm good to go. Highly recommend this knife. Service from the vendor was excellent, too.

The anodized spacers are the kicker too

I love the rift, I'm okay with orange, something special! Something different ;)

I don't know which i like better.....that badass rift or the sexy SAK!! hehehe, i said sexy sak, hehe he hehehehehe. :D

No, but a satin blade swapped out with my standard Rift that has the scales dyed blue/black would look great until I acid etch/stonewash it and make it look even better. Can't do that easily with the black coated blade.

The orange is kinda growing on me but still put off by S30V in an exclusive.

I would kindly suggest you get over that. For a price less than the going rate for the standard Rift with satin blade, you get special scales, special stand-offs, a coated blade (which looks better than the satin would with the orange/black scales), and what is an upgrade in blade steel by anybody's standards (even mine, who isn't a big fan of S30v). Let me say that again: For a price less than the going rate for the standard Rift with satin blade. And, when I ordered mine, you could get free shipping with the discount code NUTNFANCY.

I don't know I am anxious to see the satin blade version. I normally prefer satin blades but I do agree that with the orange and black scales the black blade is gorgeous. I'
ll probably still buy a satin blade model as well. Those scales and standoffs are enough that it is still going to be special.

The price argument is true but seems like less of a deal given the new Ritter grips in M390 at a better price. The Rift is the knife I've wanted to want for a long time but never pull the trigger

The Grips are a totally different physical platform - price comparisons don't work well.

I would kindly suggest you look at the price of the new Ritters: M390 at a better price..

Yeah, the Ritter Grip doesn't really compare well at all with this exclusive Rift. RG: $100 knife with standard handles in a special edition with upgraded steel for +$40 vs. Rift: $178 knife in special edition with upgraded steel, unique G10, unique anodized spacers for -$15. Dealio for realio.

Looking forward to tomorrow's mail.

Please see Jazub's post right below yours. I agree, the Grip doesn't compare favorably with the Rift even with the M390, especially when you consider price differentials.

The satin blade 950-1401 with S30V is going for $152.75. Compare that to the regular satin blade 950 with 154CM at $165.75! Use coupon code nutnfancy for free shipping.

Pure personal preference, but I like the looks of the satin blade a good deal better than the black. YMMV, of course.

After seeing your photo I was going to order one of those orange farmers along with the satin blade 950 but they're sold out now! Darn the must have JUST sold out. Oh well I guess it's just the 950-1401.

I have never owned a Benchmade knife, but yesterday I ordered a 586 mini barrage with m390 blade. I am aware of some of the alignment problems, but hopefully they will have that corrected. I know I will love the m390, but will I love the 586 mini barrage? I don't know, it doesn't look as good as some of the other knives, so what do you think?

i ordered a ritter m390 insted of this, my normal is a 950-1 satin blade, but im waiting for s90v or m390
