9cr18mov?

I have two Schrade linerlocks in 9cr18mov steel. Very hard and IMHO excellent steel. Sharpens to a hair splitting edge and holds it.
Also have a lot of makes with 8Cr15MoV and find them also very good; a bit easier to sharpen but quite acceptable.

Knarfeng, that's the problem ! Chinese steel called "440C" .You never know with them ! Cold Steel master hunter originals had great AUS-8. Later ones had Chinese steel "called AUS-8" but was not . That's when the complaints started !! They have a long way to go and until then I'll stay away from Chinese steels !

Makes me wonder if they're now using a Chinese steel called "CPM 3-V". :p

My AUS-8 CSMH was my hunting knife for years .I never heard a complaint . So tell me now whay would there be complaints starting when they used Chinese steel ??
My comments are also based on experiences as a metallurgist out there in the real world. There too you never knew what you would get . If an American company wanted to buy Chinese steel [and other products ] people from the company had to live in China and get all the certs, and specs and constantly do QC checks of composition etc.
Do a serch on this forum on that knife and you'll see --complaints started when they bought Chinese steel. So they have a long way to go !
