A Beckerhead Giveaway

Oh wow. Pàdruig Pàdruig that's an awesome move. Thank you, and I'm in. BH #401.

I have never had a BK 10 before. I recently acquired his chunky brother the BK2, but have never even had a 10 in hand, so thank you for the chance!!

I love all my backers, but if i had to pick a favorite, it'd be the BK4. It has gotten quite a few more scratches, and has lost much more of the finish since this photo was taken. It's a total work horse, and is one of the few knives that makes me look at others that fill a similar niche and say "Nope. Got that one covered. No need for duplication." It's just a phenomenal piece of work.

:D:D:D

An old viking went riding out one dark and windy day, upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way. When all at once a mighty herd of full tang knives he saw, a plowing through the ragged sky, and up the cloudy draw. Their sheaths were made of fire and their blades were carbon steel, their scales were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel. A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky, for he saw the riders coming hard, and he heard their mournful cry.
Yippee aye ohhh, yippie aye yayyy, ghost viking in the blade.

While I am already outclassed significantly by the photos thus far in this thread - especially the unadulterated knife porn of Xr6x, I will, nonetheless, tell you about my favorite Becker.

I like the BK5 and 15 as their shape suits so much of what I do with these knives; they are slicey, stylish and rugged but they are not my favorite for this contest.

The 11, 14 and/or 24 are things that no man should be without ... on his person ... at all times!

I like the BK 9 because, well, it's The Nine (The King) and, as we all know, you can't not have a Nine.

As great as the BK9 is (and it is great) the 20 is all that and more; I really like to BK20.

The BK16 or "Sweet 16" is, how can I say it? Sweet! It's so much just the right size and right shape although arguably the 17 is sexier.

The BK7 is the jack of all trades multi-purpose, multi-viscosity, all-season Becker. Great utility!

The BK3 and 4 are in a class of their own and have a special place in no small part because of that.

The Kephart is not only classic, not only a work of art, not only functional but a must have for someone even loosely connected with the outdoors or Uncle E.

All that being said, the BK2 would have to be my favorite for the context of this contest. Why?
It's what brought me to BK&T back when; I suspect I am not alone in this regard. The BK2 not only exemplifies but actually is the quintessential Becker in the sense that it can do it all with reckless abandon and come back for me - again and again. You can anything with this knife - it is the Mack Truck of the Becker Range. Ethan has once (or perhaps more than once) said, "I am German - I can break anything!" While I do not know if that is factually true or merely hyperbole for the purpose of illustration but I'll betcha he'd work up one heck of a sweat trying to break a BK2. The BK2 is apologetically heavy, unabashedly stout and seemingly inexplicably functional. It is a knife that truly punches above its weight - despite its not inconsequential weight. All of the Becker knives exude the character and design intent of BK&T but, IMHO, none better than the BK2.

EDIT: Alright, though lame by comparison to others, I'll add a pic.

I was looking for a small fixed blade and found this forum as well as the BK14. I got the knife and it has served me well for years now. I then kept reading about how great the ergos were on Ethan's knives so I bought a BK4 and a BK15 and sure enough the ergos are exceptional. The fact that Ethan is a good guy and his knives are produced by Kabar is just icing on the cake. I love all my Beckers.

Beckerhead #436 says "I's in!"
Admittedly, I've never been a fan of the 10 - sort of considering it awkward middle child. Too small to hang with the big kids, but too big to play with the small ones. Acknowledging that, I'll admit that I've never actually used one...and, if I win, I will give it a fair chance. (If I don't find that it has a place in my group; I will select a post from this thread & move it along to a more deserving home.)
Choosing a favorite BK is tough, for me...so I'll give the nod to my first - the BK7. It was a much used & loved Camillus model; which I eventually gave to the son of a good friend. I replaced it, of course; but, for a while it sat unused while bigger and smaller knives came with me. One day, I picked it up again, and remembered what I was missing. I haven't been out much lately; so the area sanded to pretty up the ugly parts is still shiny, and the new osage scales are nice and clean.

and, going back a bit, even Taz likes the BK7

It's hard to pick my favorite knife, but after much thought I choose my BK9.

I do have other that I use more often, mainly my BK11, but I'd be most crushed if I lost my 9.
I love the ergonomics of all my Becker's.
Each knife is built for serious outdoor use, which is what draws me the most.

I also appreciate the sense of camaraderie in our little Beckerhead community.
I enjoy seeing everyone's knives, and modifications. I live vicariously through shared outdoor adventures that I see on this forum.
Thank you, Pàdruig for putting on such a generous giveaway.

Man, I can't decide between the 16 or the 11.... Probably the 16. The 62 is also rad, but personally I love the tweener handle on the 16. Heck, lets just say the 16 for today. Tomorrow I might change my mind :p. I have a hard time picking favorites! I am drawn to the Becker knives because they're a perfect combo of great ergonomics (the most important to me), great functionality (next important) and a cherry on top is a great bang for the buck. There are lots of great knives out there but rarely are they all three of those things. Anywho, this is an older pic but I really like it of my 16.

If I were to win I would give the bk10 to my dad. We are working on repairing our relationship that wasn't so good when I was younger. He's 6'5" so it'd fit his hands nicely. Thank you for the generous giveaway!
