Ben has a great design in his Body Guard series

Here is a WIP on the one he is doing for me to be delivered at Blade

We will be posting up some pics as he gets going

This knife will go to Paul at Blade for leather

Every now and than a certain pattern strikes me and this is one that does just that

Thanks for posting, Joe. This will be a new twist on the Bodyguard with handle/guard material...Joey's idea:). Haven't done it before but I think it'll pretty cool:cool:

Love these WIP threads. Ben made one of these Bodyguard knives a couple of months ago, it's a great knife.

Brilliant collaboration! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!:)

I'm sure it's going to be a beauty! Looking forward to this....

I enjoy seeing blades just after the forging process.

Some very crude, most resemble the finished profile. No surprise what this blade will look like. I would like to watch your technique Ben.
I enjoy watching this process.

Like Sams great Hurk design this piece from Ben really says ....... Ben :)

The handle material and guard will be what sets this one apart from the others and this dill be where this knife is different

We all know how I like retain synthetic materials in my carry pieces :) all I can say is that this won't be my normal Black Linen Micarta :)

Hmmm... Bone Linen or White Micarta to go with that 357Mag of yours perhaps?!?!?

No matter what... looking forward to this one! I've had the picture of Ben's last Bodyguard on my desktop since it was posted. BEAUTY!!!

Man after all these years you guys just know me all to well :)

A Tuxedo Bodyguard for the well dressed man :)

There's a pic of a Silverback Gorilla in a monkeysuit, lol!

Joe, if that is a rental, you KNOW what those kids do in them, right?

I usually carry a Don Hanson linerlock in brown pearl and a Paul Long clipcase while in a tux myself, but you do love your fixed blades!

Lookin' sharp amigo.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

It's a knife and it's supposed to cut...so let's try cutting African blackwood!
Blackwood is hard. Chips were flying and hitting Dad's shop over twenty feet away:p

The tip is crucial to a fighting knife. It's a balance between slashing geometry and stabbing power. In a life or death situation you don't want the tip to fail. You never know when you might have to pry a hung cartridge from a rifle or any other unforseen emergency. I test by prying out chunks of pine. Maybe not a recommended practice but as a maker I need to know what the knife is capable of.

This is why we are doing this

Old Ben is into the performance of the forged blade as I am

I believe the salvation and attraction of the forged blade like it was meant to be and will be again is in the performance field

Long live the forged performance blade :)

Looking good Ben

Good thread here. I'm following along.

Uh.........Ben..........if you have extra blackwood just laying around to hack into pieces, I'll take some off your hands buddy. ;)
