A bug out bags purpose?

Disagreements are part of life mon ami. :D

But if I could do everything with a rock then what reason would I have to speed $$$ on seriously sexy steel? :p

Nothing wrong with carrying more!

There is no right & wrong (within reason) for how one builds his BoB, the true test is when we have to use it. :)

Suffice to say, there are disagreements. Not only about what to put in the BOB, but also about how a bugout situation might unfold and therefore require.

Your viewpoint reminds me of the folks that don't carry a knife afield, since they "can always use a sharp rock".....

The best post asked: "What's wrong with carrying more as long as I can keep up with you?"

There is "going light" and there is "going TOO light for no reason."

Heres something to ponder. What about diabetics, like myself and many others on this forum.

This one of the many others on this forum won't join in the debate as it responds with maximal prejudice to argumentum ad hominem. It is currently biting its lip in the face of ugliness. Dunno about the others of the others or the diabetics though.

I'm thinking more about the multipart BOB as this goes on. Why *not* plan around a 25 pound load out with a 10 pound section that's easily removable for carry if you need to lighten the load and ditch the pack?

Or variations on the above.

Your list looks thought out and portable enough to keep you mobile.

I put my first BoB together after being in an earthquake in the Santa Cruz earthquake in 1989. I mean once I got back to my apartment, I immediately put together my very first BoB...it was a gym bag with a change of clothes, some cash I had on hand, some tinned food, city map, toiletries and my .45.

I also had and still keep a roll of quarters. See, cell phones were not that big yet and pay phones still abounded. A roll of quarters will keep you in junk food from vending machines and can really clock a guy in a pinch...

Now almost 20 years later, my BoB is still about the same. I'm 20 years older now so over the years, I've learned to lighten my load. I keep a couple cases of MRE's separate from my BoB but still easy enough to grab them and toss them in the truck.

Each family member also has their own kit so no one gets stuck being the mule and hauling all the gear.

Since each vehicle has a stash of food, water and FAK, all we need to do is grab our BoB's and head out of Dodge.

So what do I have in mine? Clean socks, toiletries, flashlight, small fixed blade, multi-tool, couple bottles of Gatorade, granola bars, city maps, my .45 and a roll of quarters. My FAK also has some latex gloves and face masks. Everything fits in a Maxped Pygmy Falcon II with room to spare.

All the ductape, rope, tarps etc, etc are already stored in the vehicle in storage bins.

The EDC pack is also my BoB. Won't do me any good in a closet when I'm away from home. I live in a CCW state so I'm legal...
