A Busse, a Cow Tongue and a Tri Tip

If I can manage to convince the wife to even let me try it, I'll report back. If not, I'll come back and whine.
Took me forever to get her into venison. And even my daughter, who is generally much more adventuresome gastronomically (is that the correct word?), was a little put off by "tongue." They don't seem to get that it is all just muscle. And looks to be very lean.
 
Just to clarify, the oven method still requires the boiling and skin peeling first.
 
Well - I am late to the game! I boiled that sucker in a seasoned stock for 3-4 hours...its a recipe/method that i looked up since it was pre-stuffed, and I don't have a smoker either...

Please boil and take the top layer off if you ever want them to trust you with anything adventurous again! It is after all, a literal tongue with big ass cow tongue-philanges all over it!!!

Tongue Tacos are like pulled pork tacos...if you do them to BFS's pulled pork level - I probably prefer it this way to eating it in slices. This might be the path of least resistance for your wife and daughter. Tongue tacos are served at many, many a Mexican/South/Central American restaurant or Food Truck/Taco Stand.

I could not pass up that special seasoned one when I saw it...

Yeah... so, I got completely denied. Not in her kitchen! And I wouldn’t even try it without getting the tastebuds (I assume that’s what they are) off it. But just talking about getting it tender so it could be eaten like pulled pork got her :confused: to the point she blurted out “CHICKEN!” Just to get her mind off it.

Man, I’m so disappointed. :mad: It looks like good lean meat.
I’d even try to do it outside over the grill or campfire if we weren’t getting rain from Florence. Just the fringes, but still rain. I guess it is going to be Rotty treats for a few weeks. Even as much as I love that dog, what a waste!

Well, we case our boudin in pig intestine lining, and that stuff is solid gold when it’s good, and I help my bud make his own every time we do it...and you can stuff chickens with boudin with no casing

I noticed you didn't mention the reproductive parts. So I'm guessing you're a fan of fried RM oysters. Now you're talkin. Dipped in a sweet chili pepper sauce. Mmmm, mmmm.

I like to try new things. But not everything. The core of the tongue just doesn't look bad, though. And, the dog sure does like it.
 
Was Stationed in Louisiana and acquired a taste for Cow Tongue and Mudbugs! Yummy!!!

Same here-
I was stationed in Louisiana for some swamp/jungle type work and acquired a taste for spiced up alligator, Cajun “anything” dishes, snake,
and some great bass fishing.
That tounge looks pretty good!
