A Busse fixed to folder conversion

The guy its going to is solid, if it did get traded around some day I would just hate to see it passed off as something its not. I agree about the tan color, has anyone stripped this off before with like a paint stripper? Does it need to be sanded or bead blasted off, Iam pretty sure either one of these methods would remove the blade marking.
Matt

I use acetone and a small SS wire brush. Soak the blade in the acetone and the paint will start to lift, then gently use the brush to remove the paint and the Busse logo will still be there, but fainter.

Still needs a clip and some Fizz or engraving but almost there. The coating came off very easy with carb clean but there are marks and scratches under it, still not sure what Iam going to do for blade finish.

Great looking folder! Blade profile seems more pronounced without the coating. Kinda skinny though ;) .

wow !

Good looking folder, I think the blade finish looks kinda cool, at least in the pictures.

Incredible job !

All done! A little Fizz and a tip up carved Ti clip. Plus I did a little something with the handle scrap that was left over too.

Sweet! Nicely done! Great looking folder.

So what's holding on the original micarta slabs to the handle now that the tubes are gone? Just the glue? Anyway, it looks like a nice little "box cutter".

Yea, the handle slabs on the little scrap knife are just glued on with epoxy.

I left the blade natural, just the way it was under the coating.

So where's the real thing? Pontiaker beat Busse to an INFI folder? It looks awesome dude, but leaves me wanting the real thing. I'm currently carrying a buck 881 sp, which is a linerlock with a 3/16 inch thick blade (which I just noticed, is the same stock thickness as the Hell Razor, though of course ATS-34 is not INFI), it's very tough, and I've used it harder than most any other knife I've got, and it just leaves me with a taste for an infi blade and a stronger lock than the liner my 881sp's got.

Hully gee Batman! I hadn't looked in on this thread for a couple of weeks. That's awesome Matt! You do most excellent work!

Cheers,
BJB :D

Actually, it appears that the folder has been in the works and a prototype was handled at Blade West 03. Bravado's look sums it all up:

I've also spoken with someone either in, or very close to being in the inner circle that the mythical folder does exist and that Jerry is just trying to complete the design and manufacturing process. Hopefully we will see it this year.

Jerry posted a post awhile ago saying that the folder does exist.... not to sure how to find it though

That's like the only pic available of the supposed folder, though it really doesn't tell us much... :( I read the "Yes Virginia there really is a Busse folder" thread a few months ago, though it gives no hints about when this thing's happening. I really hope it IS this year, and that it's everything it's been built up to be in the minds of so many, for so long. I dare Jerry to make a tougher knife than my 881, and the real striders, the manix, the Fulcrums and the Aircats, even <gulp, shudder> the Dark Ops... wink wink, nudge nudge...
