A Buyer's Review;

I'd like to add my review of my recently purchase manual gunahmmer Torpedo blade with black finish. The knife arrived with bag and on first view, looked well machined and nicely finished. Blade was perfectly centered, tight lock up at 60%. Smoooooth action on opening and easy to thumb over the liner lock. Blade is shaving sharp with excellent grind. My only gripe with the knife is the lack of a backspacer allowed my thumb to get a nasty cut when rubbing my hand over the back of the closed knife. I was feeling the scale and seeing if Jimping would be a benefit and tested the blood resilience of the scales.... Don't think it will be a real issue, but concerns me that my hand could get cut on a closed knife if it is loose in my pocket.

Looking forward to my Forum Green Gunhammer!

^If you'd like Darrel could take care of that for you, one thing Darrel's known for is stuffing as much blade as he can into a handle. Thats one of the reason I like his stuff so much:thumbup: Sounds like your knife is all good to me:D Can't wait for the Green forum Gunny either, is gonna be sick:thumbup:

I am pleased to say that my refurbished Gunhammer arrived yesterday, and all of my problems have been corrected, and then some! The centering is perfect, there's no more blade play, and best of all it's a Maxx Glide system now! I think the absolute coolest part is that they replaced the gold anodized handles with copper anodized ones, but kept the same blade. I think this is the only such combination in existence, it's a pretty great feeling knowing that.

On an interesting note, the lockup is now mega early. I made a youtube video about the experience, where you can see the lockup. It's probably about 5%, but it's rock solid. Just pretty sticky, but hopefully that will go away.

Glad to hear you got taken care of. Mind posting a pic so we can see the combination of which you speak?

At this point, the more I look at it, the more confused I get about which color it is. It's not the copper ones, but when not directly illuminated it looks much darker than the previous FDE handles. However, when a picture is taken with a flash, they both look super light. I need to get a better camera to accurately represent it. Also, the lock stick doesn't appear to be going away, sharpie trick or not. Hoping it just takes longer than average to break in.

To me this says a lot about the maker. Mistakes will eventually happen to every product, but if the maker is willing to go the extra mile and make sure its corrected and that you're happy.. good stuff. Enjoy the knife!

All this has me kind of wishing I had never signed up for the forum gunhammer. I guess im just nervous. $380? The thing better be flawless! I could have gotten a brand new Sebbie for a couple more bucks. For the guy waiting on the M390, I know of at least 3 including mine that are being returned already. Good luck! Darrel I still have faith in you! Please dont let us down!

My god!! between this thread and the two forum gun hammer threads I don't think I've read a single positive post from this member!! Just refund his damn money and give someone else his place already!! Hell, I'll take his and mine just so I don't have to read his negativity any more!! Enough already!!

Update on my purchase from the new factory. Purchased a manual in s35v, received a Max glide with Cts steel. The blade is centered the lock up is around 40% and the action is very smooth. Took my WE to the blade at 18 degrees per side and went through all the stones to leather with diamond paste, this thing pops hairs and glides through phone book pages. Nice knife, thanks Lacy for taking the time to have the guys ship a real winner. Martin

+1 for a good one!

So how would a gunhammer work for a fellow with a size 13 glove size? Also, how does it ride in the pocket? Is it a slim carry? Thanks in advance!

It's not as slim as some, and I definitely always know that I have it with me. But it's not a boat anchor or anything. It's a light knife, with just enough heft that you know you have it, but not too much that it's uncomfortable. Rides a lot better than the ZT560 or 350, in my opinion, or the Manix 2. About similar to the Rift or Ritter Grip with custom handle scales in how it feels in pocket.

For the size of the knife, it carrys well in my pocket. I've carried the Gunhammer, a ZT 0561, and a Hinderer XM-24. While the Gunhammer is thicker than the other two, it has always worked well for me. The ZT 0561 carries well for me in khaki's but not jeans, but the Gunhammer seems to work well for me in anything.

If you ever make it out to Denver area, let me know. You can come check out one of mine and see if you like it.

Sure, keep me posted :) I'd do a passaround, but I'm a bit leery since I had a bunch of stuff stolen by a guy who used to be a Beckerhead.
