Its obvious you have a lot of friends here. Although in there posts they disagree with your opinion of what a collector is as well. So, just out of curiousity, I'm wondering why you attacked me when I disagreed. Is it because I said I thought you seemed board with your collection? It just appears that way when you yourself admitted that in another thread(not verbatim)but aluded to the fact. I'm not trying to Duffel feathers, I call it like I see it.

JB, I haven't said peep to you so for you to make your comment was out of line. If people onto want opinions stay off the computer. Like I said talk to a tree, there good listeners. Plumberdave is a bully, if he doesn't like what someone says he makes a stuped comment in hopes that he can have the lime light. Dave this ain't the Dave page its the Buck page, you just ain't that important...

Yes, it takes discipline, money, a desire to read and learn and carpentery skills help. I'm the only one that displays Buck'sat shows within 250 miles. While I really enjoy talking knives to people some don't like it and will stare at my display until they find something wrong with a model, state it and leave. If I were to build mine, museum quality there Would be people mad. Don't you know your not supposed to do that in a small town! But in a larger city its much more accepted. It causes people to ask questions. Which leads to what I really like to do--is talk about these models and interact with people. I think when you display one needs much more than nice knives, you need people skills and a LOT of knowledge about the knives because they will ask MANY different questions. Even about models you don't have. I'm amazed at the knowledge of some of our collectors and people on this forum. Its one thing to have access to records/data about models while on a PC its another matter at a show. Your not just an individual collector, they view you as a representative of the company in knowledge, speech, dress and manners. Hard to convey that on a computer. I enjoy myself right here with you guys posting pictures and info. but at a show its a different ball game. Just my take and JB I agree w/ you as well. DM

MB.....you dared to disagree with Plumberdv.

Of course you're gonna get static from him and his little clique. That's been a problem here on the Buck forum for a year or two now. Lots of people have left.

That's just the way it is.

Enough already, both of you. We've got a great forum here. There's room for everyone to talk about their knife-related interests. Stop talking about other members.

ok .. one day i was cleaning the basement and found i had a bunch of knives
it all started with this bunch of work knives i had

this was short time later

some time not real long later still

a good bit later

frist display case in bed room for my faves so i could look at them easly!

my 119 .. ugh .. display

no i do not sleep with them ... yet.. call this bucks bedded down

an idea is born

now this

so while i display now i did not for years
i went to the svkc show and met the bcci folks
was impressed tho i did not understand most of what i saw
but
i had an acumlation when i cleaned all the tool boxes out
then ... i started collecting...
most all you guys are collectors in my books!!!
and i love ya all
jest cause i or some one does display is not NOT what make us collectors
but every one i know at the shows enjoys telling any one
that will lissen all about any knife they ask about !
pride of our displays no mater if we win a award or not
that we might win is neet and if we do
it is one great feeling to know you did well enugh to be choson!
i will tell you that the "leaders" of the display folks dont set trends
nor do they set rules on what to display
ALL DISPLAYS ARE WELCOME!
they dont have to be fancy at all even to win a prize!!
ask bucksway!! his is a modest nicely done display
every thing is labled and easy to see
not the fancy that the blade show folks pick
but what the BCCI members there pick !!!
every member there gets to vote!!!
i dont even try to win at the last two shows i was at
jest show off my knives and tell any that would listen what each was

as to this forum
once 334dave chose to voice a lot of thoughts
and some liked what i did some did not
i made some friends and lost some friends because of my mouth
i regreat the ones i lost to them i say i am sorry
any one of us here can be seen as representive of the BCCI
many times 110 dave chooses to not speak or disagree
i acknolage that any one has the right to say what they want
there is a time and place for it
not one of my former opions is worth loosing a
buck budy over.. i know as i lost a few
not chouseing any one over any one else
or saying any one is righter
only that some times you can get overly involved and
others can and will inflame things takeing sides ..
i used to really defend what i belived in
now it is not worth the sore feelings later
jest my two centivos worth
besides i get tired of popcorn!!
HAY any one seen chicken trax?
is he still around
he was fun to 'discuss' things with!!
and what of the goosemister!?!?

Interesting photo history, and great collection there, 110 Dave.

Uhm... the girl with her back to the camera... is she a part of your displays that you show at the shows??

I’m going to make one last post, then close this thread, as it’s caused way too much trouble.

One last time, this thread was meant simply as a tribute to the wonderful displays and displayers at the shows and my determination to someday become like them. It was an assessment of my own situation, and goals, nothing more. It was certainly not my intention to put down anyone or their own conception of what makes a collector. It appears that some, by inference, believe that I was putting down any and all collectors who don’t show.

Could it have been worded better? Perhaps, but I don’t really know how I could have made it any plainer that I was speaking about myself and myself alone.

I should have known better. There are those that are quick to take offense, have thin skins and hair triggers. Everyone has their own idea of what they are and my idea of myself was what I was posting about.
