A CRACK? There's a mysterious line on my new HI khukui

Tell Ya what, if you're OK with it being a little used, I'll dig one out my personal stash so you don't go on your trip nekid.

No cost, no strings. I just don't like to see people bummed out when I can help it. I would feel the same way if I had a trip coming up.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM:)

I love this forum....the people here are truly special.

I'm with you DandyLion. I'd turn Jake down, too, but I'd be bustin' my buttons over the fact that he made such an outstanding offer to me. Nice offer, Jake.

I was amazed when I saw the offer. I did PM him and for anyone wondering I politely declined though I am more than grateful.

Man, sorry I didn't see your post in time. I might have been able to get it to you in 3 days.

OK then, blanket note: if anyone needs a khuk, gimme at least 4 days heads up in the CONUS. USPS can get it anywhere there in that time;)

Anyway, enjoy your trip:)

Don't worry about it! It's funny, I read "I'd turn Jake down too" in Bookies comment. My name is Jake too!

There might be value in saying yes just to see what a kukri roulette looks like. I know I couldn't appreciate the variety and differences between them til I saw them in person. Which means there's no reason I'd need to say yes.

Hmmmmm. Steely, I could use a Bura or two if you want to send'em my way. It'll be O.K. to just send'em regular mail, too, ol' buddy!

as these are made from old car springs, it could even be a hidden delamination from the original forging way back before it got used in a car, then scrapped and re-formed by the kamis. it's be hard to tell how deep the crack is, may not be a worry, as it's longitudinal not transverse (perpendicular to the edge) but if it extends almost to the other side, it may fail eventually, especially if moisture gets in & it starts to rust. rust takes up more room & will add internal pressure trying to force the crack open, which may occur well down the road after hard service. or tomorrow. i'd take advantage of auntie's offer, but if you are going to use it to see, keep it oiled and wear the gloves/goggles.
