A Desk of Elegance for 79 Dollars

What I find funny is that you two tend to be a little bit edgy with each other online, but I have a feeling that if you met, you'd be inseperable. :p :D

Rusty;

Thank you for all the patience you've shown me over the years. I've made mistakes, and been out on a limb. I hope it's been worth it, and I've given something back, though probably my wife of 14 years would have the best cost analysis on the subject.

Rusty is a great moderator. It's not easy to restrain yourself, accept a managerie (sic) of different points of view and behavior, and somehow allow both freedom and structure. You don't always get to be the 'good' guy, and must make unpopular decisions.
God Bless you.

munk--I recently sent Rusty an email saying something similar, but not quite so eloquently. Thanks again for doing what you do, Rusty. Keeping order in this place must be a nightmare sometimes, especially with people like munk around. Good thing I never misbehave.

Hollowdweller and I would be sworn enemies were it not for the fact we like each other.

You guys are the Cantina’s original Odd Couple. Now which one of you is going to be the effeminate Felix? “Oh, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar!” :D
Seriously, the place wouldn't be the same without you both. You both contribute more than a twirp like myself ever will...even when you bicker on the playground:)
...and another Kudoes to Rusty for doing his best to keep us in line. I would not want your job, but I respect the work that you do. Thank you.

Jake

Don't refer to yourself as a twirp. It is unacceptable. ( or as Bill once said to me when I'd referred to myself in an equally dismissive way in private correspondance; "Well, if you say you are then your are. Don't do that.)

besides all that, you aren't, and far from it. You have sand, which you've shown time and time again.

Probably got it from the Brazos...

munk

A very heartfelt thank you, munk:) A kind word from one of the pillars of the Cantina goes a long way in my book. Ok, i am not a twirp. I am simply a young guy that is aware of his inexperience and ignorance. I don't have all of the answers, nor will I ever. But I do know that the fine folks of this community teach me new things each and every day. Listening to you guys will make me wise beyond my years, yet.
What's this have to do with $79.00 particle board desks?...Everything.

"A Desk of Eloquence" is what this thread has been carefully crafted into....

Nice; Steely, munk.

Ad Astra

Steely, there are no 'pillars'. We make mistakes and good decisions, and every bit of wisdom be it from book or friend we embrace and make it our own.

That's what you do- make it your own.

and eeeaaahh; it's time to veer off or I'll be writing Hallmark Cards for a living.

I'd never consider anybody my enemy because they disagreed with my politics.Even if I personally did not like them. If somebody is your "enemy" then you never have the chance of making them even consider your point of view.

.

Just a joke, playing with words. I actually have an enemy in life but I don't precisely 'hate' him the way people talk about 'hate'.

Jake, don't know how old you are nor do I really care. You could be from 14 to 30 for all I know. :p
But I do know this and I know it for absolute certain!!!! With an attitude like you have expressed above you will go far, very far indeed if you will just remember it.
That is indeed the first step towards wisdom.
Many of you have said you think I am wise, but if I have any wisdom at all it's because I started paying attention to my elders and figured out that when they said something had happened to them because of a particular thing they had done; that if I done the same thing the same thing would no doubt happen too me. Then I also started listening to other people.
Unfortunately for me I started listening way too late.
Had I of not known everything about everything when I was in my middle teens my life would have no doubt turned out a lot differently than it has.
But then on the other hand I wouldn't be who I am today and that means I probably wouldn't have my Barbie.
And with that I have too say I am quite content, well taken care of and, in spite of some of the bull sh*t I have too put up with on a daily basis, very happy indeed.:D ;)

I still have kids tell me, "Well a person has too learn from their own mistakes."
I tell them that's bull sh*t and that they can learn from the mistakes of others if they would only pay attention and listen.
Once in a while it actually soaks in.

Edit:
Oh yeah. That post earned you a rep point.;)

Edutsi...I've been playing quite a bit lately. Is the sound of the flute always so much sweeter after it strikes something(one) else and bounces back to you?

I think so...it is for me!

This thread has turned into a very feel good thread for Jake:) in all seriousness, thank you for taking the time to write such kind words, Yvsa. It means a great deal when such a well respected elder takes the time to let me know i'm not growing all willy-nilly:) I''ll be 24 next month. Acutally, Heber and I share the same B-day, IIRC. I promise i'll do my best to learn from you guys. The only thing i ask is that you make sure to smack me around if i get too big for my britches. I am humbled by you all. I would like keep enjoying this daily slice of humble pie. Ok, no more kind stuff fellas. center of attention is not my fav. place to be.

Jake
p.s. thanks for the rep point:)

Uwinv, remember me telling you that the Flute would teach you and that the way of the Flute is a very mysterious way?
Sounds too me like you are listening.:D ;)
