A diffrent type of large knife.

Some Blackjack stainless steel models that may work for your purposes.
(1) Blackjack Marauder, if you can find one (IIRC models are MK-1, MK-1a, Reinhardt Khukri, and the 14" long MK-2)
(2) Blackjack Quick (AUS-8, 10" blade)
(3) Blackjack Grunt (AUS-8, 5.5" blade)

The Blackjack Marauder MK-1 is pretty neutral and quick in the hand, which is a characteristic I remember from my work with a BK-7. Which is odd for the MK-1's longer blade length. The relatively thin stock (compared to heft of Busse 1/4-inchers) and saber grind gave decent penetration when chopping with the MK-1. The handle reminds me of the Busse Basic/old Swamp Rat/ScrapYard handle shape. Picture below of a MK-1, below a Becker BK-9 Combat Bowie for size comparison.

I can't speak about the Quick or Grunt models, since I haven't ever handled them.

Also check out the Big Country KAMPR and Big Country WORKR models, which are also Ken Warner designs in AUS-8 stainless that may suit your needs.

What's the little green neck knife? (insert Borat voice) I like...

How about tha Fallknivn a2 7&1/2 inch blade vg10 core with laminated 420 ss highle stain resistant super strong high quality convex grind I've seen them for around 180-190 a little pricey but from my experiences with the smaller f1 so far well worth it.

Thought about that, but yeah, Pricy, really pricy in canada.

Too bad their wasn't more on the Ka-bar "bull dozier"

I wan't a knife with a 7" blade in stainless:eek:

So what do you guys think?

You know the D-2 isn't a bad idea. About 8 years ago I bought my son (a kid then) a knife from Knives of Alaska in D-2 and told him "you will have to care for this knife, it will rust". Well 8 years later do you think he took care of it? Nope, however he did say that he wiped the blood off.:D It never saw oil, and he has killed way more than his share of whitetails and hogs, so it's a real user. Zero rust in super humid middle Georgia.

Considering what's available, if you don't want to go with the Entrek - and it is pricey - I'd go with one of the D2 knives.

I've been a fan of D2 for years; have never had issues with it rusting - or even developing a patina. And that includes blades by Ka-Bar, Northwoods, Queen, Canal Street, Benchmade and others.

Keep it clean, wipe it off after you use it, it will be fine.

And I'd much rather have a D2 knife than an AUS 8 knife.

I would in most cases, but I've used AUS-8 befor, and I love how eays it is to sharpen. I've never tried D2, and dont know what It field sharpens like, though that won't deturr me from trying it someday. :D

I'd go with a recon tanto or srk in AUS8 before I'd go with a SOG seal.
Those Entek's look pretty good.

I have the seal2000. I tried thinning out the edge, while it makes a great slicer, it didn't lend itself to chopping much of anything. I put a convex bevel on the seal, now it chops much better with little up keep on the edge. It doesn't slice as well as when it was a really thin V, but it has a much more durable edge.

Yeah, I mean im not going to be doing anything major with the knife. Just an above avarage size for a little larger things. Thats why 7" blades interest me so much, Master hunter and SAK for smaller things, Axe for the large stuff, and the 7" for everything in between.

So, my list so far.

SOG Seal, 440A
Ka-bar next gen, 440A
CS Recon scout, AUS-8
Ka-bar Bull Dozier, AUS 8

Another company I was thinking of was Muela. I know they have a few nice models in 440C, though Im not sure on the overall quality of them
